RETAIL
RioCan is expected to begin development of a 160-acre
site located on Simcoe Street North in 2014. Phase one will
accommodate 1.3 million square feet of retail development.
The site is located adjacent to the planned Hwy 407
extension.
Development is under way for a Costco retail warehouse
store and fuel bar to be built in the downtown shoulder
area on former industrial lands. The site is the location of
the former ACSYS industrial plant.
SAIL, a Canadian outdoors superstore chain, has opened a
new location in Oshawa in the Stevenson Road and
Champlain Avenue area. The company was founded more
than 40 years ago and is managed from its head office in
Laval, Quebec.

more GM vehicles than any other city in Canada,
representing 18% of the total national production (377,000
vehicles) and employing more than 4,400 people. The all-
new Cadillac XTS and next generation Chevrolet Impala
will be built in Oshawa, securing approximately 750 jobs
and $185 million in investment. In 2011, The Oshawa
Assembly Plant also launched the Buick Regal, Chevrolet
Camaro Convertible and Chevrolet Equinox, adding two
new shifts and securing 1,300 jobs.
Premier Elevator joined the ranks of Oshawa businesses
in 2011. Premier Elevator fabricates and installs traditional
and specialized elevator cabs and interiors across North
America. Premier has a fully equipped wood shop, metal
shop and finishing shop which allows for an extremely
efficient work environment.

Road in Oshawa. GO Transit Maintenance Facility
