The Project - The first project study by the Grand Resort’s engineers was supported by the use of classic automation with compatible materials (e.g. remote control switches), while the control of lighting was foreseen to be handled by ON/OFF logic.

- En route it was decided to change the ON/OFF logic to Dimming control with regulation from multiple points in the room but also to have the ability of communication with a central control room (e.g. reception).

- It was obvious that such installation required the use of a small and flexible automation system with the possibility of future connection with a larger BMS (building management system).

The Problem - In the meantime all the cabling phase was completed with the use of standard electrical wires (NYM) placed with star topology. In addition all control cables were of the same type (NYM, 3x1.5 mm2).

- Grand Resort’s engineers communicated with the biggest automation companies in Greece, requesting a solution to the particular problem. All the submitted suggestions required the removal of the existing cabling and new installation of special bus cables. This uneconomical solution seemed for quite a while to be the only possibility.

The Coincidence At the same time Adamsnet’s engineers gave a presentation of their new activities in the area of building automation, based on Dupline bus system. The Grand Resort’s engineers became very enthusiastic after learning about the existence of a bus system that doesn’t require special cabling for the bus signal, and immediately requested the submission of a technical-economic tender.

The Solution Having all the details from the engineers (electrical plans, ground floor drawings, position of buttons and controlled loads) it was a matter of 24hours to give a complete technical and economical offer for the 90 bungalows (15 different types). Our commitment was as follows:

- Existing cabling would be used without changing of the topology.

- Conventional buttons from VIMAR (customer’s choice) would be used.

- Light Control (dimming), Curtain Control, IR Remote Control

- Possibility of Scenario functions (general on/off, light scenes)

- Future connection with a BMS
