  • Messages The P&C Uniform Shop will be

open every 2nd Friday morning from 8.40am to 9.15am odd weeks. Orders can be left at the office.

DPS Sandpit - DPS is currently fixing up our sandpit and are looking for any donations of Toys for the sandpit (Tonka trucks, buckets, etc).

Website – Dungog Public School has an active website that provides up to date information. Check it out!

Parents/carers are reminded that our school hours are: 8.40am to 3.10pm. Teachers are not on duty until 8.40am each morning. Please ensure your child/ren are not at school earlier than 8.40am as they will not be supervised.

Attendance Text Messaging system – we are continuing to implement our new text messaging system. Text Messages will be sent out daily from approximately 10am. It is a simple procedure to allow parents/carers to simply text back a reason why their child is away from school. The return text message only needs to provide a brief reason as to why the child was away on that day. E.g – Doctor’s appointment, sick, holiday, funeral, etc

Kindergarten- KO Goodness me, halfway through the term

already. KO have been enjoying Aboriginal

stories. Ask us about which ones we have

read! We are souding out for spelling

activities like legends and are trying to

ALWAYS remember to read and check our

work. We are getting better and better at

blending the beginning of words too. Last

week we all had fun listening to Alpacas with

    Maracas for National Simultaneous story

    time. Keep on learning!

Stage One- 1M Wow, half of Term 2 is over already! We’ve been so busy learning we didn’t even realise!

This week 1M English are focusing on a new text called ‘Cyclone’ by Jackie French. 1M Maths are learning all about Fractions this week. 1M have been learning all about use of voice, facial expressions and movement during Drama and this week we will be learning how to use actions to perform. I would like to congratulate 1V, 1G and 1M on their excellent participation and enjoyment during Stage 1 singing and music every Friday! Have a great week!

Kindergarten- KM We’re blasting through Term 2, just like rockets. We are revising our Jolly Phonic sounds every morning and learning to write and read words that contain the sounds. We are loving doing Literacy groups in the morning and being independent learners everyday! This week in Maths we are looking at sharing and making equal groups. Have a great week!

Stage One- 1G 1G English has been writing up a storm

last week as we look at 'Cyclone' by

Jackie French. In Maths we have been

    learning all about Multiplying and

Dividing and learning why its important

    for special events like parties!

Paper Mache was our focus in Science

as we explored that by mixing flour and

water we could make our own glue.

    Have a fantastic week!

Stage One- 1V Half way through the term already?

Wow! Where has that time gone. The

students have been so busy learning and

doing some amazing work. A reminder

that as it starts to get colder, ensure that

you are putting names on your childs

jumpers as we already have a number of

them that have seemed to have lost a

home. A reminder to continue doing

Home Reading with your child as it is a

very important part of their learning.

    Have an amazing week!

Library with Mrs Norris This week saw our school take part in NSS

and Mr Kemp’s crew acted out the story

for us. Stage 2 and 3 are going great work in

learning how to code. Kindergarten and Stage one are designing

using Paint and 3D paint - wouldn’t be wonderful if we had a 3D printer to create

    their designs.

We are still hoping students are reading and recording for PRC. Reading for

pleasure has a marked influence in all areas of learning.

  • Stage Two- 2G NAPLAN is finally over and we can

start to get back into routine. Miss

Gay is excited to be back in the

classroom and is prepared to keep

those brains pumping for the rest of

the term. Star Struck is well under

way and our students are very

    much looking forward to show

week which is fast approaching. Be

sure to keep healthy as the winter

    weather starts to set in!

Stage Two- 2J 2J Maths have started work on Chance and Area, and in English we have started looking at “Show, Don’t Tell; which will help us create exciting and detailed writing pieces. In Science we are exploring all about computers and what they can do and how they do it. Keep up the great work guys! Only half a term to go!

    Stage Two- 2M

2M have been exploring ‘What’s inside a computer’ during our Science lessons.

Stage Three- 3G Congratulations to our Ministers who attended

    the GRIP Leadership Conference and

represented DPS proudly. Year 5 have been

busy these past two weeks completing

NAPLAN, but I’m sure our students will be

excited to return to their normal routine. 3G

    English have been engaged researching

National Reconciliation Week and the theme

for 2019. We have been gathering lots of

    interesting information and are looking

forward to developing our own podcasts!! Have

    an amazing week 5!

Stage Three- 3L Welcome to week 5! All students have been given their History assignments. We will be using class time to start researching information and to ensure students are on track and understand the project. All work will be saved and can then be accessed at home. If you do not have a computer or internet, I am happy to assist at school during break times. Our class supply of pens and lead pencils is fast running out, please check that your child has a pen and pencil everyday. Have a wonderful week!

Stage Three- 3S What an outstanding performance from our Stage 3 debating team, winning our first debate. We were so successful with the topic, “homework should be banned from all primary schools “ and I’m sure all parents would agree ;) Great job! In English we are focusing on adjectives, giving a lot of detail to our ideas in Writing. We have finished our mini Science unit, Matter and know all about solids, liquids and gases.

K-6S We are loving exploring our Pirate theme

this term! In CAPA we have enjoyed

performing a drum routine for a song titled

‘A Pirate went to Disneyland’. We have

also enjoyed learning about a female pirate

named ‘Anne Bonny’. You can find a great

song about Anne Bonny on Kidzone titled:

‘Anne Bonny was a Pirate Queen’. This

month we have also celebrated three

    birthdays. Happy birthday to Alex,

    Jackson and Braxton!

We were very fortunate to have the DPS Executive come and speak to our members about English and Maths at DPS during our May meeting. This was a highly engaging and informative session and we are grateful for the time taken by these teachers after hours to share their knowledge, passion for learning and to respond to our questions. This was part of a series of presentations and we look forward to our next one An Introduction to Growth Mindset at DPS. Given the great engagement in last week’s session we will aim to hold the following sessions separate to our monthly meeting, more information on date and time to follow. Thank you to our Canteen volunteers this week: Monday 27th May: Amy Lynch & Jasmin Wilson Wednesday 29th May: Helen McVie & Libby Rumbel Friday 31st May: Amy Lynch This year the DPS P&C will again be hosting the Kids Corner as part of the Festival Dungog Street party on the October long weekend. In 2018 this was a great community event for families and raised much needed funds for our school. We will be establishing a working group to develop our plan for this event and would value your input. If you would like to be involved please come along to our first meeting to hear more 4.00pm, Tuesday 4 June, Coffee Bean Café.
