Virtual Backpack
Please remember to visit: www.fdschools.org, to
check out all the virtual backpack information on activ-ities, groups, fundraiser, etc. going on in the Fort Dodge community. There are new items added often, so make sure you check it frequently.
In 4th grade our kids are learning about Christmas in other countries this week. We are also building gingerbread houses during math, working on scale, area, perimeter, and estimation.
Winter Weather Wear
Now that cold weather is headed our way, we ask that you put
the name of your student on ALL of his/her items. We have a full Lost and Found already and we will get plenty more. With the name on their clothing items, it is much easier to find the items’ owner.
Please remember that the kids go outside until the wind chill gets
to zero or below, so they need to be dressed for cold and snow. Please send them in their boots and put shoes in bags or leave a pair in the locker at school.

Students in Miss Morrow's Third Grade practiced their coding skills by creating paths to and from a gingerbread house. Students worked together to create a path and then created a code for that
path for others to try. This was a fun activity that allowed students to work together and problem solve. Each student had a part and
practiced before recording it for the final version. The chosen book was Nasreen's Secret School and was read during their ELA module titled: Overcoming Learning Challenges New and Far.
This was a great way for students to practice their reading fluency, work together as a team, and publish their work to an authentic
audience. Here is the web address https://read.bookcreator.com/

The 4th grade ELL students used the google expedition goggles to go on virtual field trips to biomes they are re-searching. We “traveled” to the desert, Antarctica, the Great Barrier Reef, the rain forest and a temperate forest. Mr. Oodekirk was our guide
