On 25th November the Government declared that HARIKSHA LEARNING CENTRE FOR CEREBRALLY PALSIED AND MENTALLY CHALLENGED CHILDREN, is registered under Section 52 of the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act,1995 for the period from 27.07.2010 to 29.02.2012 vide Sl. No. 119/2010.

18th May 2010 Villupuram District Differently Abled Welfare Officer (DDAWO) Mr. Thangavel and Ortho Technician Mr. Kumar visited our Learning Center. District Differently Abled Welfare Officer distributed the stitched uniforms to our Learning Center children.

Special Medical Camps

Dr. Malliga, Siddha Medical Practitioner, Primary Health Center, Avalurpet Conducted the Siddha medical camp on 19th July 2010. All the children of our Learning center are got benefitted and provided with the needed medicaments.

Visitor for our Learning Center

The District Project Manager, Vazhndhu Kattuvom Project, Tiruvannamalai Mr. S. Veerapandian visited our Learning center. He shared his positive ideas and encouraged us on 19th April 2010.

Bro. Levea, Director of Amalarakini Visual Impaired special School visited our learning center on 20th April 2010.

On 18th May 2010 Villupuram District Differently Abled Welfare Officer Mr. Thangavelu, and Mr. Kumar, Orthopedic Technician visited our Learning center to ratify our PWD Act Registration.

On 26th June 2010 the Gingee Thasildhar visited our Learning Center for the purpose of Building License.

July 2010 The District Differently Abled Welfare Officer, Villupuram and Ortho Technician, Villupuram are visited as a scrutiny visit - as an action of our recognition application.

The Gingee Ex-MLA T.N. Muruganandham visited our Learning Center, shared his idea in the visitor register facility available with them, they are doing excellent service. I congratulate them and

K. Ravi, Senior Manager (Corporate Planning), Aban Offshore Limited, S. N. Balaji, Murugappan and Saravanan visited our Learning Center on 18th December 2010

On December 27th & 28th the Consultant Mr. S. Jayapaul, Thiruchengode, from CREDIBILITY ALLIANCE visited and verified the needed documents. Credibility Alliance is a national consortium of non-profit organizations, set up in 2004 to establish consensus- for the voluntary sector in India.

On 12th January Lions club local volunteers came share the joy of Pongal Celebration.

On 1st of February 2011 Mr. Rama Subramanian, Asha for Irvine, Chapter Co-Ordinator visited our Learning Center.

On 26th March representative Mr. Chandrasekar, from Sitaram Jindal Foundation, Bangalore visited our Learning Center. We submitted proposal their funding organization for the school van in the year 2009.

School Van Received as Donation from ABAN Offshore Limited, Chennai

The team members of ABAN Care are satisfied with our Hariksha Learning Center for CP / MR Support to the needy children. They sanctioned the school van with ready to use condition. They completed all the government procedures (registration, payment of tax, etc) give us the School Van Key on 28th March 2011 with ready to use condition.

Local Contribution

New president of Lions Club, Avalurpet, take charge. He extends the support to our children by distributing the bed sheets to our Learning Center children on 2nd July 2010.

On 28th of this month the Governor of Lions Club provided 50 kg Rice to our Learning Center.

Opportunity to Participate State level sports meet at Chennai

9 Children from our Learning center took part in the state level sports meet taken place in Anna University Campus, Chennai on 1st December 2010, during the world disable

Protection of Rights and Full Participation.

On 2nd of December we took the prizes and met with the District Differently Abled Welfare Officer Mr. M.C. Shanthamurthy. He greeted and wished our children for their best performances. The information about the participation of the sports meet and prize winning published in the leading news paper (Dhina Malar) on 15th December 2010.

We celebrated the world disable day in our Learning Center on 3rd December 2010. The children are celebrated the day with the cake. All the children enjoyed the day.

District wise Special Olympics

The district wise Special Olympics for differently abled children conducted in Kamarajar Higher Secondary School, Villupuram on 12th March 2011. The events are organized by the Chennai NGO, Anbalaya collaboration with DDAW Office, Villupuram. 10 children from our Learning Center participated in the events and won prizes,

On 14th May 2010 with the help of the volunteer, collaboration with Vazhndhu Kattuvom Project, Lions Club, Mel Malayanoor we executed the stage street show to make the awareness to the public mass to make aware of differently able issues.

Paper news about the awareness program

On 29th December 2010 cultural awareness program conducted in Edapattu Village. The expert team members of Vazhndhu Kattuvom, Mannin Maindhargal Kalaikuzhu Team performed the task. The awareness program is supported by the sponsor of Give India. The expert team performed the awareness through various aspect and concepts; they expressed the awareness ideas and the government schemes for the rehabilitation and welfare of differently abled - through the Drama, Karagattam, Oyilattam and Songs. The village community aware of the differently abled varieties, Various opportunity and approaches of Differently Abled, Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation.

Vazhndhu Kattuvom scheme successfully achieving the Livelihood Promotion, Economic Empowerment, Developing and strengthening pro poor local group, Building Skills and Capacities of the poor through various trainings.

The new innovative idea of training local group to address the differently abled issues through the training is excellent ideas to stimulate them find out solutions. After the training every one will be thorough about the Differently Abled issues which help the differently abled rehabilitation.

We got opportunity to train the Community Differently Abled Facilitators, collaboration with Vazhndhu Kattuvom Scheme. Through our 11 days Foundation Training programs 09.11.10 to 19.11.10 - 27 Persons 04.01.11 to 14.01.11 - 16 Persons are trained with information. Through Multiple Rehabilitation Techniques Trainings 19.04.2010 to 19.05.2011 34 persons, 09.06.10 to 08.07.10 - 27 Persons, 21.02.11 to 24.03.11 - 36 persons are trained by the qualified trainers. Apart from this 12 SDF are trained 17.07.10 to 19.07.10 with various information.

Vulnerable Disable

standard aids and appliances that can promote their physical, social and psychological rehabilitation by reducing the effects of the disabilities and enhance their economic potential. The aids and appliances are Tricycles, Wheel Chairs, Folding Sticks, Goggles, Hearing Aids, Solar Rechargeable Batteries, Calipers, Crutches, Artificial Limbs, and Braille Watches. Person with disabilities of all categories will be provided specialized services under one roof.

The well qualified professional team members from a reputed hearing impaired school took part in the assessment camp. The proficient Physiotherapist and Orthopedic

professional educator from Amalarakini School for Visually Impaired, Susai Nagar facilitates the assessment camp with his professional & Practical skills.

The professional team members consist of Hearing Assessor, Visual Assessor, Physiotherapist, Social Worker and an Ortho Technician took all the needed efforts and techniques to their door steps to suggest / provide the appropriate rehabilitation techniques and apt equipments. Various welfare Schemes and scholarship schemes are explained to the parents.

Number of Persons attended the Camps - 1148

No of Vulnerable People - 916 No of Differently Abled - 232

The various types of the disabilities are categorized appropriately; the needs of the special need people are indexed and recorded. The rehabilitative techniques are explained to the people. The updated schemes, educational assistances, special institutions for the special education, educational equipments, assistive devices, mobility devices, wheel chairs, try cycles, special shoes, calliper, crutches, walkers, corner chairs, parallel bar, earing aid equipments, spectacle, walking stick, Brai lle watch, scholarships and business loan information are shared with participants. The appropriate assistive devices are suggested as per the need of the special need people.

VAZHIKATTI - Government Scheme

The Villupuram District Authorities selected our organization as an implementation agency for the scheme VAZHIKATTI in Melmalayanoor Block to serve the Differently Abled & Physically Challenged person living in the vi llages.

We selected the village workers in each vi llage Panchayath. D uring this selection we give priority to the differently abled person & parents of differently abled. This opportunity will provide Rs. 750/- per month as honorarium.

The welfare workers are involved in the village level survey and data collection works as per the Government guidance in the prescribed formats.
