The exhaust system for the S4R version of the legendary motorcycle is led dif-ferently from other Monsters. Therefore we have developed a specially-designed Akrapovic SLIP-ON STREET LEGAL exhaust system. Unlike the stock system with two mufflers, our system has just one muffler, with two inlets and two outlets. The system is designed to deliver performance appropriate to a first-level exhaust tun-ing upgrade. In addition to performance, the Akrapovic SLIP-ON STREET LEGAL system delivers a major aesthetic improvement, as it fits beautifully into the lines of the naked Monster. The muffler has noise dampers installed in both inlets, so it conforms to exhaust system noise regulations for street use.

PERFORMANCE

Measurements of the Akrapovic SLIP-ON STREET LEGAL system on the DUCATI MONSTER S4R (without noise damper):

Power: The Akrapovic SLIP-ON delivers an increase on the stock power in the low and high ends, while in the middle of the range around 6000 rpm it follows the stock curve. The increase is at the upper limits for a system of this type and gives the Monster a very satisfying overall performance boost. At 9000 rpm the system puts out 110.5 HP.Torque: the torque curve also benefits. Similar to the power curve, the torque curve is increased at low rpms, ensuring easier shifting, then follows the stock curve in the middle of the range and rises again from 7000 rpm onward, which will suit sports-ori-ented riders.

CONFIGURATION

The Akrapovic SLIP-ON system for the Ducati Monster S4R is a special design adapted to the design of the stock header assembly. It has two titanium (stainless steel) cylindri-cal link pipes which lead into a single muffler, which is mounted at seat height on the right side of the bike. The link pipes are independent, connected to the stock header assembly and the muffler with free-floating joints secured to the muffler with tensioning springs and to the header assembly with metal clamps. The link pipes have points for attaching the stock heat shields (2x), while Akrapovic carbon-fiber heat shields are avail-able as an option. Because of the two link pipes, the single muffler has two inlets and two outlets. Both outlets (outlet cap) are like the interior of the muffler made out of titanium. The muffler outer sleeve is available in either titanium or carbon-fiber. The muffler has noise dampers installed in both inlets, so the system conforms to exhaust system noise regulations for street use.

OPTIONS
