4 - FAN MAIN OVEN

GENERAL FEATURESWith your new Fan oven it is possible tocook a variety of food using the 2 differ-ent cooking functions. The 2 positions, thermostatically con-trolled, are obtained by 2 heating ele-ments.– Grill element 2000 W– Circular element 2500 W

NOTE:Upon first use, it is advisable to operatethe oven at the maximum temperature(thermostat knob on position 250) for 60minutes in the position and foranother 15 minutes in the mode inorder to eliminate any traces of greasefrom the electrical resistances.

OPERATING PRINCIPLESHeating and cooking in the FAN ovenare obtained in the following ways:

a. by forced convectionA fan sucks in the air contained in theoven muffle, which sends it throughthe circular heating element and thensends it back through the muffle. Before the hot air is sucked backagain by the fan to repeat thedescribed cycle, it envelops the foodin the oven, provoking a complete andrapid cooking. It is possible to cook several dishessimultaneously.

b. by radiation The heat is irradiated by the infra redgrill element.

c. by ventilationThe food is defrosted by using the fanonly function without heat.

WARNING:The door is hot, use the handle.

During use the appliance becomes hot. Care should be taken to avoid touching heatingelements inside the oven.

GRILLING

The infra-red heating element is switched on. The heat is diffused by radiation.Use with the function selector knob to position and the thermostat knob between50° and 225°C for 15 minutes, then to position 175°C with the oven door closed. For correct use see chapter “USE OF THE GRILL”Before using the grill, preheat for about five minutes.Always grill with the oven door closed and do not use the grill for longer than 30minutes at any one time.

Caution: The oven door becomes very hot during operation.Keep children well out of reach.

Recommended for:Intense grilling action for cooking with a broiler; browning, crisping, “au gratin”, toasting, etc.

HOT AIR COOKING

The circular element and the fan are on. The heat is diffused by forced convection andthe temperature must be regulated between 50° and 250 °C with the thermostat knob. It is not necessary to preheat the oven.

Recommended for:For foods that must be well done on the outside and tender or rare on the inside, i. e.lasagna, lamb, roast beef, whole fish, etc.

DEFROSTING FROZEN FOODS

Only the oven fan is on.To be used with the thermostat knob on “●” because the other positions have no effect. Thedefrosting is done by simple ventilation without heat.

Recommended for:To rapidly defrost frozen foods; 1 kilogram requires about one hour. The defrosting times vary according to the quantity and type of foods to be defrosted.

COOKING ADVICESTERILIZATIONSterilization of foods to be conserved, infull and hermetically sealed jars, is donein the following way:

a. Set the switch to position . b. Set the thermostat knob to position

185 °C and preheat the oven. c. Fill the dripping pan with hot water. d. Set the jars onto the dripping pan

making sure they do not touch eachother and the door and set the ther-mostat knob to position 135 °C.

When sterilization has begun, that is,when the contents of the jars start tobubble, turn off the oven and let cool.

REGENERATIONSet the switch to position and thethermostat knob to position 150° C. Bread becomes fragrant again if wetwith a few drops of water and put intothe oven for about 10 minutes at thehighest temperature.

ROASTINGTo obtain classical roasting, it is neces-sary to remember:– that it is advisable to maintain a tem-

perature between 180 and 200 °C. – that the cooking time depends on the

quantity and the type of foods.

OVEN COOKINGBefore introducing the food, preheat theoven to the desired temperature. For a correct preheating operation, it isadvisable to remove the tray from theoven and introduce it together with thefood, when the oven has reached thedesired temperature.Check the cooking time and turn off theoven 5 minutes before the theoreticaltime to recuperate the stored heat.

SIMULTANEOUS COOKING OF DIFFERENT FOODSThe FAN consents a simultaneous het-erogeneous cooking of different foods.Different foods such as fish, cake andmeat can be cooked together withoutmixing the smells and flavours together. This is possible since the fats andvapours are oxidized while passingthrough the electrical element andtherefore are not deposited onto thefoods.

The only precaution to follow are:– The cooking temperatures of the dif-

ferent foods must be as close to aspossible, with a maximum differenceof 20° - 25 °C.

– The introduction of the different dish-es in the oven must be done at differ-ent times in relation to the cookingtimes of each one.

The time and energy saved with thistype of cooking is obvious.

USE OF THE GRILLLeave to warm up for approximately 5minutes with the door closed. Place the food inside positioning therack as near as possible to the grill. Insert the drip pan under the rack to col-lect the cooking juices.Grilling with the oven door closed.
