OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Using a digital clamp meter is an uncomplicated and safe way to measure current in a circuit. Unlike regular meters, the clamp type does not put the meter into the circuit, but measures the field induced by a current passingthrough the clamp. It is suitable for moderate (<480V) voltage and current applications.

Measuring Current with a Digital Clamp Meter• Remove power from the circuit, if possible. Working on a hot circuit involves extra risk to the user and all

equipment involved.• Isolate a wire carrying the current you wish to measure.• Open the clamp portion of the meter and then close it around the wire (and only that wire) you wish to

measure current passing through.• Set the clamp meter to read the current type (AC or DC) and the expected range in milliamps or amps. If

you don't know the range, guess high, and dial down as needed.• Return power to the circuit and read the digital display, writing the value down to avoid repeating the

process. If the reading fluctuates, give it a minute to settle down.• Remove power from the circuit. Then remove the clamp meter.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT1. Remove the Phillips head screw that secures the rear battery door.2. Open the battery compartment.3. Replace the 9V battery with a new one in appropriate polarity.4. Secure the battery compartment.

Disposal

You as the user are legally bound (battery ordinance) to return all batteries and accumulators.Disposal in the household garbage is prohibited! You can hand over your used batteries/accumulators gratuitously at the collection points for our branches in your community or wherever batteries/accumulators are sold.

Follow the valid legal stipulations in respect of the disposal of the device at the end of its life cycle.

WARNING

• Improper use of this multimeter can cause damage, shock, injury or death. Read and understand the user's manual included in the device before operating the multimeter.

• Always remove the test leads before replacing the battery or fuses. • Inspect the condition of the test leads and the meter itself for any damage before operating the meter.

Repair or replace any damage before use. • Use proper care when making measurements. If the voltage is greater than 25VAC rms or 35VDC. This

voltage is considered hazardous.• This is a class A equipment. It can cause interferences in the living quarters. In this case, the operator can

be required to carry out adequate measurement.• Always discharge capacitors and remove power from the device under test before performing Diode,

Resistance or Continuity tests. • Voltage checks on electrical outlets can be difficult and misleading because of the uncertainty of

connection to the recessed electrical contacts. Other means should be used to ensure that the terminals are not "live".

• If the equipment is used in a manner not specified by the manufacturer, the protection provided by the equipment may be impaired.

• This device is not a toy and must keep out of reach of children. It contains hazardous objects as well as small parts that the children could swallow. In case a child swallows any of them, please contact a physician immediately.

• Do not leave batteries and packing material lying around unattended. This can be dangerous for children if they use them as toys.

• In case that device will not be used for an extended period of time, remove batteries to prevent them from improper usage.

• Expired or damaged batteries can cause cauterization on contact with the skin. Always use suitable hand gloves in such cases.

• See that the batteries are not short-circuited. Do not throw them in fire as it may cause explosion.

WARRANTY

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION (s)

1. What is a digital clamp multimeter? – The digital clamp multimeter or clamp-on ammeter is a complete electrical testing tool. The clamp

portion of the multimeter is used for reading amperage that is flowing through an insulated conductor or wire. Typically, most digital clamp meters may not have the capability for reading ohms or resistance. They do, for the most part, have the ability to read amperage through the clamp-on device and voltage with the manufacturer-provided leads or probes. The main usage for a digital clamp multimeter is to read the flowing amperage through the wire, and then the voltage of the circuit. By multiplying these two electrical characteristics, you can also find the true power consumption in the circuit called "watts."

2. Does the display of this tester have a back light?– This tester doesn't have a backlight for display.

3. What is the required battery for this tester?– This tester requires a one piece of 9 Volts battery.
