  • Definition A DSLAM is a Network Device, usually placed at a Telephone Company Central Office, That Receives Signals from multiple customer of DSL Connections and puts the signals on a high-speed backbone line using Multiplexing Techniques. DSLAM multiplexers connect DSL lines with some combination of Asynchronous Transfer mode (ATM), Frame Relay, or Internet Protocol Networks. DSLAM enables a phone company to offer business or home users the fastest Phone Line Technology (DSL) with the fastest backbone Network Technology (ATM).

  • Backplane of DSLAM Subscriber shelf supports three backplanes: MDCA: Supports broad/narrow-band integrated service access Mechanical support for all cards and works with the control and switch card MDCE: Supports pure broadband service access MDCF: Backplane works with the control and switch card to supports larger bandwidth, each slots bandwidth reaching up to 4 GE. Provides two 10G interface uplink slots. Splitter shelf supports only one backplane e.g. MTAN.

  • CSC Board Feature The CSC board resides in slot 9 and 11.The CSC board cannot reside in other slots. Height: 9U Core of switching and controlling for the system, providing a series of ports and powerful switching capability on the backplane. DSLAM can be configured with one single CSC card or dual active/standby CSC cards. When the active and standby CSC cards are running, the standby CSC card performs hot backup for the active CSC card.
