Alcohol appears to be the substance of choice among Litchfield youth. 34% (137 students)
report having used alcohol in their lifetime

Alcohol Use The most commonly reported source of alcohol (among ‘lifetime’ users) is FRIENDS (70% or 96 students)
22% (31 students) of ‘lifetime’ alcohol users reported having consumed 4 or more drinks during a single occasion in the past 30 days.
Most common locations of recent alcohol consumption included: o Homes of others (81% or 111 students )o A party without an adult present (71% or 98 students)o A party with an adult present (47% or 65 students)o At home (70% or 96 students)

Marijuana Use Among ‘lifetime’ marijuana users, the most commonly reported source is FRIENDS (82% or 74 students)
26% of ‘lifetime’ users (23 students)report having gotten marijuana from their parents without permission

Other Illicit Drugs Misuse of other illicit drugs is generally low. Highest lifetime rates are seen for
Synthetic marijuana (4.6% overall or 19 students)Ecstasy (4.3% overall or 17 students)Hallucinogens (3.3% or 14 students)

Age of Initiation
The most common age to try/initiate energy drinks and marijuana was 11 – 13 years of age, (68% and 45% respectively).
The age of initiation for cigarettes, other tobacco products, energy drinks with alcohol, and alcohol was 14 – 15 (48%, 42%, 40%, and 42%).
Among the 10 and under group, only energy drinks exceeded 10% as the age of initiation.

E-cigarette use is an emerging issue among youth.

Some may be using the devices to inhale THC.

2.6% of youth (11 students) report recent misuse of any prescription medication.
