RANGER Drop-Down Eyepiece Night Vision Weapon Sight

RANGER is a lightweight night vision sight offered

with 3X, 4X, and 6X objective magnification. It features

a unique drop- down eyepiece design that is particularly

suited for weapon mounting on the carrying handles such as on the M16A2. On other weapons where the mount is elevated to allow clearance over the breech, the drop­down feature also offers a better cheek-weld than con­

ventional straight through night vision sight designs. RANGER can be fitted with either high performance

GEN II or GEN III image intensifier that allows selec­

tive night vision system performance. RANGER is activated for operation by a rotary ON/OFF knob that also controls the red LED projected reticle. A separate knob controls

reticle brightness. Reticle design can be matched to weapons requirements . Windage and Elevation are con­

trolled by ballistics knobs matched to the objective mag­

nification . Objective focus is controlled by a focus knob located on the side of the system body. The objective

protective cover includes a built-in training filter that

allows use of the system during daylight hours for bore­

sighting to the weapon. RANGER is directly compatible with STANAG or Weaver

style mounting devices. Other custom mounts are avail­

able upon customer request. Ranger is constructed of a high

strength composite polymer for ruggedness and lighter weight. The system contains a replaceable, screw-in

desiccant indicator and is equipped with a nitrogen purg­

ing valve. Ranger is operated by a single AA Battery. Alkaline

is normally supplied but a Lithium AA battery is available

for cold weather operation. Any voltage from 1.5 to 3.9V

is acceptable.
