How to prepare your USB Storage Device for OPTWARE/ENTWARE environment:

Requirements:

- A Windows OS (since were going to use Windows based application)- A USB Storage Device- Minitool Partitioning Software Installed (Can be downloaded here: http://download.cnet.com/MiniTool-Partition-Wizard-Home-Edition/3000-2094_4-10962200.html?tag=mncol;1)

Instruction:

*Assuming the USB Storage device is already plugged in to the computer*Assuming that the Minitool Patitioning Sofware is installed

1. Open "My computer" and take note of the drive letter of the USB Storage Device you will be using.

2. Open MiniTool Partition Wizard and a new window will appear like this. Click Minitool Partition Wizard from selection.

3. You will see a window something like this, Find the Drive letter of the USB Storage Device you taken note earlier.

4. Now at this point we need to delete the existing partition on the drive, you can do this by right clicking the one of the two encircle above and a sub-menu will pop-up. choose delete from selection.

After that you will get an Unallocated status on that drive

5. Now we need to create a swap partition, this is necessary for routers who had 32mb or less RAM. Well, there's nothing to loss to have one anyway, even if you had a 128MB RAM in youre router, there's no guarantee that it never get full. To do this right click on Unallocated space and choose Create.

And then a new window will pop-up and just copy the setting as shown below

And then Press OK.

6. Now we had a Swap partition, now we need a optware partition, same as always Right click on the unallocated space and choose create

A warning message may appear (if onyl using a flash drive), whatever it says just click yes.

And then a new window will pop-up and just copy the setting as shown below

And then press OK.

6. Then for the last one, the data partiton. This partiton will be your directory for all data (e.g. the things you downloaded from torrent client/Samba share/ DLNA and many more). We would want to separate the optware partitionfrom being clump with other things, we're just going to get organized. Now to do this right click on Unallocated space and choose Create.

Another Warning, just choose yes.

Then use the left space in the unallocated space.

Then Click OK

7. Now it should look similar like this when you done creating the 3 partitions.

To apply the changes click the Check button located at left upper corner of the window

It will greet you with this message. Choose yes from selection

Now it will process the changes and wait for it, it may take a while so go drink some coffee for a while

7. Well done you just finish the first part creating partition for TomatoUSB OPTWARE installation use.
