Pore pressure problems are the source of many common and expensivedrilling challenges, from lost circulation and kicks,

to loss of the well through inadequate casing design.

With Drillworks Predict software, you can reliably forecast pore pressures toimprove performance and avoid problems at all stages of the drilling cycle:

• Pre-drill analysis optimizes mud weights and casing setting depths

• Real-time analysis reduces uncertaintywhile drilling

• Post-drill analysis improves planning and drilling performance in future wells

Pre-Drill Analysis

Drillworks Predict software helps you understand the subsurface environment in order to reduce uncertainty andoptimize wellbore design. Greater accuracy in casing andfluid system design improves wellbore feasibility and costforecasting, as well as safety and performance.

The industry’s most dependable prediction of pore pressuresis calculated using an operator-endorsed process establishedby the Drilling Engineering Association’s joint industry projectDEA 119. This process is supported by specialized featuresthat use industry-standard or user-defined methods to calculate:

• Overburden from seismic, density or sonic data • Effective stress from resistivity, sonic and seismic velocity • Pore pressure from effective stress

Real-Time Analysis

Real-time analysis using MWD/LWD data acquired via WITSor WITSMLTM standards allows foot-by-foot computations ofwellbore stresses and collapse strengths. These computationsare developed in concert with specialty software available in the Drillworks software suites (including Presage,ConnectML and Geostress applications) as well as third-party data.

The WITSML data standard eliminates dependency on proprietary data protocols, allowing Drillworks software users to work with any combination of offset well data(including MWD/LWD, RFT and LOT) and/or seismic data from any WITSML-compliant service company.

Predict allows the user to quickly and more accurately create a pre-drill geopressureprognosis to optimize mud and casing programs.

Post-Drill Analysis

Drillworks Predict software is a robust tool for post-drillanalysis that improves future drilling performance. Well datafrom a wide range of sources can be easily accessed and displayed in customizable views. Engineers and geoscientistscan perform and compare analyses using the latest industrymethods as well as proprietary, user-defined methods andprograms.

Robust data handling is provided through:

• Easy import and export of ASCII and LAS files • Seamless access via Open Spirit to third-party databases,

including Landmarks’ Openworks (*) and Schlumberger’sGeoFrame (*)

• Full integration with the Drillworks Pressbase personalproject database and our PressworksTM relational database

The Drillworks Predict interface is user-friendly with manyspecialized features, including:

• Fully customizable views/tracks• Fully customizable reports and printing• Easy annotation and shading to highlight analysis• Well path views showing 3D, section and plan views

that update in real time• Advanced track display with toggling of any unit on the fly• Receipt and display of mechanical drilling parameters • Multiple well views • Cross plots from multiple dataset pairs • Display of linear and polynomial curve fits• Customizable lithology column to support geological age,

formation group, formation and lithology
