This is an easy, refreshing recipe for Sparkling Christmas Punch for a crowd! With champagne, rum, cranberry, and cider. Not too sweet and perfect for parties! 1 large bag of ice 5 cups 100% cranberry juice 40 ounces, NOT cranberry juice cocktail 2 bottles very dry sparkling wine (750 ml bottles) , such as champagne, cava, or Prosecco (I used a brut Prosecco) 2 cups apple cider 1 1/2 cups diet ginger ale (12 ounces) (from 1 can or poured from a liter bottle)
1 1/2 cups dark rum or brandy (12 ounces) 2 oranges thinly sliced into rounds 1 cup fresh cranberries Instructions Make sure all of the ingredients are well chilled. Fill a large punch bowl with ice. December Poetry Winter Robins, Walter de la Mare
Walter de la Mare is considered one of modern literature's chief exemplars of the romantic imagination. He profoundly explored the world he considered most significant—that of the imagination. In the London Mercury J.B. Priestley favorably concluded in 1924 that de la Mare was "one of that most lovable order of artists who never lose sight of their childhood, but re-live it continually in their work and contrive to find expression for their maturity in it, memories and impressions, its romantic vision of the world." www.poetryfoundation.org/poets/walter-de-la-mare
Winter
And the robin flew Into the air, the air, The white mist through; And small and rare The night-frost fell Into the calm and misty dell.
And the dusk gathered low, And the silver moon and stars On the frozen snow
Drew taper bars, Kindled winking fires In the hooded briers.
And the sprawling Bear Growled deep in the sky; And Orion’s hair Streamed sparkling by: But the North sighed low, “Snow, snow, more snow!” A Robin
Ghost-grey the fall of night, Ice-bound the lane, Lone in the dying light Flits he again; Lurking where shadows steal, Perched in his coat of blood, Man's homestead at his heel, Death-still the wood.
Odd restless child; it's dark; All wings are flown But this one wizard's—hark!— Stone clapped on stone! Changeling and solitary, Secret and sharp and small, Flits he from tree to tree, Calling on all.
