Contest Rules: 1. Conservative colors are waived for the color pink and all its variations, but you may not

wear anything in your class that isn’t already permitted under USEF/USDF rules. 2. You must have a friend snap a photo of you mounted on your horse at the Dressage at

Spirit Equestrian show on October 13-14, 2018 and email it along with your name and entry number to [email protected] prior to 12 pm (noon) on Sunday, October 14, 2018. You must be entered in the show to win prizes.

3. You may take a photo while you are still outside the arena with extra items permitted on show grounds (example: pink polo wraps), just be sure you remove them prior to showing.

4. The show office and Spirit Equestrian staff will cast their votes for their top picks, then pick the grand prize winner from among the top entries.

5. You may include more than one photo to show off portions of your or your horse’s pink attire.

6. Get creative! We’d love to see pink EVERYWHERE! You can go tasteful or outlandish as long as it is pink and you follow USEF/USDF rules.

7. More prizes have been added! Lots of fun pink gear and grooming supplies! A portion of the proceeds from this event benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

On Sunday, October 14th, 2018 prizes will be awarded for the best pink attire at our October 2018 Dressage at

Spirit Equestrian Show.

1. EVERY CLASS OFFERED HEREIN WHICH IS COVERED BY THE RULES AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CURRENT USEF RULE BOOK WILL BE CONDUCTED AND JUDGED IN ACCORDANCE THEREWITH.

2. ENTRIES — PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: All entries close and must be postmarked or emailed by the closing date herein. Entries will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis. ENTRIES WILL NOT BE PROCESSED WITHOUT COMPLETED ENTRY FORMS, FULL PAYMENT, SIGNATURES, AND COPIES OF ALL APPLICABLE MEMBERSHIP CARDS (USEF, USDF, CDS, DASC). USEF & USDF cards may be printed or saved on one page from the website www.eqverification.org. CDS cards can be printed at www.california-dressage.org/member/print_card.cfm, and DASC cards can be printed at http://www.socaldressage.com/membership-verification/. Parents or guardians must sign entry forms of minors.

3. SCRATCHES: Scratches made prior to closing date will be refunded. Exhibitors must inform Show management of scratch. No refunds after closing date. Credit is given for vet certified scratches for one year less office fee and any late fees.

4. POST (LATE) ENTRIES: will be accepted if the schedule permits. Horses already in the show will be given priority. Entries postmarked or emailed after closing date subject to the $30 late fee.

5. CHANGES: requested by the competitor after the closing date are subject to $25 change fee.

6. RETURNED CHECKS: are subject to 10% fee ($25 minimum) and 10 days to pay in full or they will be turned over to the USEF for disciplinary action.

7. MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT: Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A non-member may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 Show Pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot (exception: Friesian performance FR218) and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes.

8. MOTORIZED VEHICLES (USEF RULE): Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule.

9. MINOR EXHIBITORS: Parents or guardians of minor exhibitors will hold SPIRIT EQUESTRIAN harmless for injury to minor. No minor’s entry will be accepted unless signed by parent or guardian. The signatures of trainers, agents, or other persons will not be accepted.

10. SHARPS CONTAINERS: Sharps containers will be located in each show barn. Competition management may fine any individual including trainers, owners, exhibitors, or their agents up to $100 for improper disposal of needles or other sharp disposable instruments.

11. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY: Every horse entered for competition will be under the control of the horse show management, but will not be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur, and it is a condition of entry that each exhibitor shall hold the horse show, it’s directors, and employees, SPIRIT EQUESTRIAN, it’s directors, and employees harmless for any loss or accident to his horse, horses, or equipment which may occur from accident, sickness, fire, or otherwise. Management reserves the right to cancel, combine, or divide classes, or to change officials as it deems necessary. The decision of show management is final.

12. MANAGEMENT: The horse show management reserves the right to interpret all questions and conditions in regard to or arising out of any incident in the show without claims for damages or recourse of any kind. All questions not covered in these rules and regulations shall be decided by horse show management and their decision is final. The horse show management reserves itself the right to refuse, accept conditionally, or to cancel any entries, disqualify riders or exhibitors, prohibit exhibition of entries, and to cancel award prizes, without claim to damage, to change, cancel, or combine any classes, to reschedule classes after due notice to exhibitors or to change rings or substitute officials. The judges decisions are strictly their own and the management accepts absolutely no responsibility for those decisions.

13. ARENAS: All tests will be ridden in 20m x 60m arenas featuring a custom blend of sand, fibers, and shredded rubber. Only horses entered in the show are allowed to use show Facilities, warm-up and show arenas. Pedestrians are not allowed in designated warm-up arenas. Horses must wear their competition numbers at all times while outside their stalls. Arenas must be empty when dragged. Horses cannot be left unattended at any time.

14. CLOSED ARENAS: Horses are not allowed in competition arenas on show days at any time other than scheduled ride times unless expressely directed by show management. Violation will cause elimination.

15. LUNGEING: In designated areas only, NOT in warm-up arenas.

16. RIDE TIMES: Preliminary ride times will be available at the beginning of the show week on www.SpiritEquestrian.com. Please check the website throughout the week for any changes. THE FINAL SCHEDULE WILL BE POSTED AT 12:00 NOON ON THE FRIDAY BEFORE THE SHOW. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR KNOWING YOUR SCHEDULED TIME.

17. TESTS: are current USEF, USDF, FEI and USDF Freestyle.

RULES AND GENERAL INFORMATION PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

18. MUSICAL FREESTYLES: Except for USEF/USDF Championship classes and for FEI Pony Riders, FEI Junior, FEI Young Rider and FEI Para-Equestrian Freestyles, in order to enter a freestyle class at any level, a horse/rider combination must have received a minimum score of 60% in the highest test of the declared freestyle level or any test of a higher level at a Federation Licensed or FEI recognized Dressage Competition or “open” Dressage class (i.e. open to all breeds) at a Federation Licensed Competition held prior to the competition where the horse/rider combination is entered to ride a freestyle class. A photocopy of the test verifying eligibility must be submitted with the entry for a freestyle class. See DR129. Sound checks available day before show or when possible on show days, see management for times.

19. 2018 GAIG/USDF REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFYING REQUIREMENTS: Horse/rider combinations need to qualify by earning a minimum of two qualifying scores at two USDF recognized competitions from two different judges in any region. Riders may ride Qualifying both days. Qualifying fee is $15 per class.

20. SCORED TESTS: will be given ONLY TO RIDERS or their agents AFTER the class is placed. Competitors should check all scores.

21. RIBBONS, PRIZES & PRIZE MONEY: Ribbons to third place. High Point ribbons and prizes for A/A, Open, Junior, FEI & Freestyle. Be sure to pick up your ribbons and prizes before you leave. If prize money is offered, we will attempt to give out prize money before the show ends or by a maximum of 30 days following the competition. Prize money will not be given out without a filled out and signed W-9.

22. CANCELLATION: In the event of rain prior to show, it is the responsibility of the rider to call Management to determine if show is cancelled. Shows will be cancelled if footing deemed unsafe, with full refund less the office fee and any late fees.

23. STABLING: Limited Stabling Available. Fri-Sun Box Stalls $165. Tack Stalls $100 (bring your own chain plus lock to fully lock box stall door plus dutch door). Special 2 door Double Tack Stall $150 (call for availability, we only have 2 total). Day Stalls (Mare Motel) $60 per day limited supply if available, no overnight stays (charged full $165). If you MUST have a stall, send your entry in early. Early arrivals and late departures $50 per day (before Friday or after Sunday, call for availability). Box stalls are permanent 12x12 with closing doors and dutch door. Day stalls are permanent oversized half-covered mare motel stalls with reinforced lower sides, there are no enclosed tack stalls in the mare motels. Stabling includes feeding of owner provided HAY, fed 6-7am & 3-4 pm & one daily stall cleaning. Groups, please plan stabling options ahead of time. Horse stalls (not tack stalls) include 2 bags of initial shavings. Purchase additional shavings at show for $15 per bag or bring your own. Pre-order your FRI-SUN $165 stall if you must have a box stall. Stabling is extremely limited and has been selling out by and sometimes before the closing date. If you need stabling, please get your entry in as early as possible, as stabling is available on a first come, first served basis. Stabling charts will be updated regularly and available on www.SpiritEquestrian.com (right hand side) along with other helpful information, please check the website before leaving for the show and let us know immediately of any discrepancies.

24. PARKING: In designated areas only.

25. GROUNDS FEE: $35 per horse (waived if stabling is purchased).

26. DOGS: Dogs must be leashed and supervised at all times. Please pick up after your dog.

27. MOTORIZED VEHICLES: Vehicles are allowed only on the main road on the edge of the property. Absolutely no vehicles are allowed on the interior pathways unless operated by or authorized by Spirit Staff members. **PLEASE CARPOOL - PARKING IS LIMITED**

28. LOADING & UNLOADING: Loading and Unloading in designated areas ONLY. Spirit can provide transportation of your items to and from your trailer and stalls if requested, between the hours of 9am and 4pm.

29. PONY MEASUREMENT: Anyone showing a pony must provide a permanent measurement card. If a pony cannot produce a card by the time of the show, the pony must be measured by the Technical Delegate. Owner of pony must make arrangements with the on-call veterinarian to come to the show to participate in the measurement. The show will not be responsible for making any of these arrangements and advises that if the on call veterinarian feels it is necessary to travel to a sick or injured horse instead of coming to the show to measure, the show will in no way be held responsible or liable for this decision.

30. OPPORTUNITY CLASSES: Horses and/or riders/drivers/handlers entered in Opportunity Classes can cross enter into the rated/recognized classes at this competition. If cross entered, all applicable fees and membership requirements apply. See GR821 for complete rules.

31. HOURS OF OPERATION & LOADING/UNLOADING ASSISTANCE: The Show Hours of Operation at Spirit Equestrian are 7am to 6pm. We have staff living on the premises in case of emergency and provide night checks for safety. If anyone will need access to your horses outside normal hours of operation (this includes braiders and grooms), please make arrangements IN ADVANCE. Spirit can provide assistance shuttling heavy items to and from the trailer parking area between the hours of 9am and 4pm. We advise arriving well within this time frame to take advantage of this service, otherwise the shuttle service won’t be available till the next morning.

32. PLEASE NOTE CHANGES TO EQUINE VACCINATION RULE GR845: 1. At Federation licensed competitions horses, more than 7 months of age, entering the grounds must be accompanied by documentation of Equine Influenza Virus and Equine Herpes Virus (Rhinopneumonitis) vaccinations within six months prior to entering the stables. Horses not in compliance with this rule may be required to leave the competition grounds upon request by Competition Management. Documentation should consist of one of the following methods mentioned below. The frequency of vaccine administration should be per the vaccine manufacturers’ or

veterinarian’s recommendations. It is recommended that vaccines are administered by or under the direction of a veterinarian. 2. In the case of vaccines administered by a veterinarian, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide documentation from the veterinarian on documenting that the horse in

question received the vaccinations; name of the vaccines and date of vaccine administration. 3. In the case of vaccines administered by a person other than a veterinarian, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide a receipt of the vaccine purchase which is signed by the owner, or agent with

care, custody, and control of the horse; name, serial number and expiration date of the vaccine; and date of vaccine administration. 4. In the case of a horse that is unable to receive either of the vaccinations due to a history of adverse reactions, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide a letter from the veterinarian on official letterhead stating that the horse in question cannot be vaccinated due to medical concerns and a log of temperatures taken twice daily for the seven days prior to entering the competition grounds. These horses must also have their temperature taken and logged twice daily while on the competition

grounds. The log of temperatures should be provided to the Competition Management, steward, or technical delegate when requested. 5. Competition Management may not amend or enhance vaccination requirements without prior approval of the Veterinary Committee.
