You dream you are a fish

A fish dreaming of sliding water teeming with microscopic life

Where weeds tickle your nose

And tiny iridescent creatures hang in the sunlight around you

As you hide in the weeds watching

Because fishes are always watchful

And you are a fish arent you?

A fish called Belinda.

It akes your flank caressingly insistently

Thawing your cold lood as you ask illuminated

!areless of danger in the hot right light"a#ed $ "rowsy

%ocked y the soft rocking water

You do not see a cloud of tiny fishes floating y

&or you are asleep arent you?

"reaming you are a fish

A fish called Belinda.

A ouncing swirl of water and you flash into the weeds again

A fish is ne,er safe a fish must always hide

And watch

"a##ling sun strikes hot into your eyes linding you

But now you are awake.

'omething is happening.

A huge monster appears flashing a giant sword

And then another.

And another.

In the greenish oo#e you hide- watching

They thrash aout- the noise is frightening

It is an in,asion

The world is ne,er safe for a fish.

The water is full of strange creatures now

'wer,ing and flashing and staring with their eyes

Almost crashing into each other

You hear goling noises and you hide deeper in the oo#e

Then there are ules and small grunts

Who are they eating?

This is no time to e a fish.

It is worse than you thought.

You need to get out of here ut you are trappedYou dare not show yourself

With a flick of your tail you urrow deeper into the oo#e

Tiny fishes swarm around you lea,ing a trail of ules

But whats this? Two eyes stare into yours.

Archie+e is frightened too.

You in,ite him to share your hiding$place.

You like Archie. e is friendly and good$natured.

You ha,e forgotten it is only a dream.

But Archie is shy.

All fishes are shy.

And he hesitates to enter- afraid of eing trapped.

When dusk falls he is still waiting outside

/istening fearfully to the ghastly noises ao,e.

All fishes are scared of a trap

The spitting- goling- uling noise grows louder

0&or )ods 'ake Archie do you want to get eaten ali,e?1

But your raised ,oice frightens him and he panics.

In a tail$flick he has gone

"isappeared into a seething monsters mouth.

A fish prefers to hide with someone else.

'omeone with a friendly cheerful spirit you met in a dream.
