Once more, I hung from the cliff, just barely holding on. My feet had slipped just as they had done whenAdam and I were children together. I was holding on for dear life as Adam grabbed at my finger; rocks

crumbling beneath my toes. The sweet breeze that had once curled delicately around our skin had nowbecome a typhoon, tearing at my hair and flesh. Below me was nothing, but rocks and rubble. For me tofall, would ensure my death.

Adam was screaming as tears fell like rain from my eyes. Everything had been going so well. Themorning had started as a beautiful dream; Adam and I awoke to one another, our arms around eachother and smiles on our faces. His lengthening brown hair brushing against my face as his fingers trailedup my body and through my red curls. Holding me to him, he promised me all that he could give me.

Apologizing for his torturous behavior, he promised never to harm me or control me again. I could drinkfrom him as I needed and all he wanted was for me to love him and care for him as he cared for me(now at this point this is what Lillith wants, until the end of the dream and later in the chapter

afterward, where her talk with god causes her to realize she does not love Adam anymore).

We had decided to go to our favorite pear tree on the cliff and break fast there. Strolling along the cliff,a light breeze tickled our skins, but did not last for long.

I was now, screaming up at Adam, begging him not to let go.Fingers slipping, I tightly grabbed at hisarms as fearful tears dripped from my chin.

"Adam! Adam, pull me up!! Please!" Why wasn't he pulling me up? He had done it before, why couldn't

he do it now?! Didn't he realize I was about to die?! I gave a cry as he gripped hard at my arms. He washolding on so tight, my blood was dripping from his nails and my skin was being torn. Pinned to the cliff,I continued screaming.

"Adam, please! You're hurting me! Pull me up before I fall! Please! I'm begging you!" I turned my face uptowards his and that beautiful smile I loved so, was gone and replaced with a ghoulish grin His eyes hada demonic look to them as his fingers tore at my flesh. "Adam!" His upturned mouth rose higher,

showing his teeth, as his face became that of a frightening, evil creature. Almost suddenly, Adam hadbecome something ugly and terrifying. My body trembled in terror as I cried.

"Adam, please save me! Please," I whispered. "Don't let me fall. Please, don't let me fall. You promised.You promised me you'd love me. You promised me you'd keep me safe. Don't let me go. Don't let me

die." His only response was to hold onto his dark smile and open his hands wide.

Down, down, down, I fell. I thrust my body upward, clawing at the sky, hopelessly. Without sound, my

tears fell from my cheeks as an unseen force pulled me to the ground. Burning bright, just above me wasthe sun. Ithit my eyes like thousands of scorpion stings, blinding me. Just before I hit the earth below, I

screamed and awoke, unable to remember the hand which I thought I saw had saved me or not.

Darkness surrounded me as I sat up beneath the tree I had lain under. My breath came out heavy as Istood. The wolf beside me, Nyx, stood up beside me. I had to see God. Whether God was going to be a

mother to me, or father, I did not know, nor did i care. I just needed it. Like a child in the night, I ran tothe tree at the center of the garden, throwing myself into God's arms, tears flowing.
