Students worked to design, prep, grow, and maintain the garden.

“They quickly became invested in the garden with their time, planning, creativity, and hard work,” Jane Stoepker boasts of her students.

What a wonderful gift from several wonderful donors! Students and staff enjoy time outdoors on the beautiful newly gifted picnic tables. Each table

was purchased by a donor and boasts a plaque in their honor.

Everything in the garden has been donated - even the plantings. The painted garbage can was created by students as a semester project, as

well as the birdhouse, and the painted flower pots.

A portion of the brick wall was taken out to allow space for a glass door leading out to the Dream Garden from the

cafeteria. The glass allows added light into the cafeteria and also

allows for a better view of the area.

Students take part in adding art to the garden as

they prepare to paint murals on the outside wall.

Page 23: Dream Garden Muskegon Catholic Central

Student designed art is displayed

everywhere! The theme for the mural on the surrounding

wall is “Faith, Family, and Friends”.

Students designed panels of the wall and were responsible not only for the design,

but the actual application of the

idea.

The art is a constant work in progress, often spanning an entire semester to complete a project.

Jane Stoepker can see what the Dream Garden project has meant to the students. “Because of their involvement in working in

the garden and thinking of art to go in or around the garden, the students have come

to appreciate what it means to create something from nothing, and that is a very

important life skill.“

The murals come from the heart and soul of the MCC students.
