Drawing a maple leaf
• First Step - How to Draw a Leaf Framework• Use simple lines, placed to help you maintain
proportion and the overall look you're aiming for.
•
Have your framework twist and turn slightly - each spoke representing a pointy segment on the blade of your leaf. The grey dots are added these to mark off a relative distance for 'just how far' you might want your curves to go back into the center point.
Second Step - Draw Your Leaf!A simple way to go about it is to begin by drawing a simple stem. Stylise it to look how you want it to. Do this first and then draw the leaf itself. In the steps below, carefully sketch in the 'ins and outs' of your maple leaf. Experiment with different lines, keeping things 'somewhat symmetrical' each part of the left half of the leaf complimenting its opposite part on the right side.
Here's how to draw it...
• Now that you have your shape, add different mark making, including, tone, cross hatching and smudging to your leaf drawing.
