II.INTRODUCTIONA flashlight is always useful in unexpected
brownouts, but what if you had a flashlight, yet
no batteries?? This is where our product
becomes useful. Say good bye to
batteries...here comes a revolutionary
flashlight that requires no batteries, just shake
it a little and voila!; there is light.
III.OBJECTIVE
We developed this project in order to
reduce the usage of batteries. As we know
batteries when not disposed properly, poses a
threat not only to the environment, but also to
our health. It was developed so that even in
our own small way, we may help lessen the
destruction of mother earth.

IV.BACKGROUND OF STUDYOn January 10, 1899, American Electrical
Novelty and Manufacturing Company obtained
U.S. Patent No. 617,592 (filed 12 March 1898)
from David Misell, its English inventor. This
"electric device" designed by Misell was
powered by "D" batteries laid front to back in a
paper tube with the light bulb and a rough
brass reflector at the end. And because it is
battery operated, its operating time is limited
and requires a new pair of fresh batteries
every time the current batteries are depleted
of energy. In short, not eco-friendly nor budget
friendly.
For such reasons did we decide to make
our project to be a flashlight that is long
lasting, easily used and requires no change of
batteries at all.

V.CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORKThe shake flashlight relies on a
NEODYMIUM, an earth magnet, inserted in a
common PVC pipe coiled with copper wires. Its
concept is that of the basics of
electromagnetism. The movement of the
magnet across the copper wire produces
electricity, this charge is then transferred to a
capacitor. The capacitor holds the charge until
it is used. Hence, this flashlight can be charged
by simply shaking or anything that would make
the magnet move.

VII.INSTRUCTIONS FOR USEAs the name implies, this flashlight can be
activated by shaking it, so that it would
produce electricity, for at least 30 seconds. For
better results, please shake it like you mean it.
VIII.PRECAUTION:Do not place the flashlight near electronic
gadgets or watches. Because neodymium
magnets are powerful it can ruin your gadgets
or watch.
IX.CONCLUSIONWe can say that creating this kind ofproject has a very big potential in the market,
not only because of its low cost, but also of its
usefulness.
Unlike the typical flashlight, this one can
be operated without the use of batteries which
can harm our environment, but shaking itinstead. Shaking the flashlight is also a good
form of exercise which benefits people of all
ages who used it.
