Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 SDK Client Edition (DSC) includes everything needed to add cutting-edge speech recognition technology to any Windows based application. The tools, libraries, and ActiveX components of the SDK make it possible to integrate the speech-recognition capabilities of Dragon NaturallySpeaking into any Windows application without using the Dragon NaturallySpeaking user interface. Developers can quickly and easily create speech-aware applications “from scratch” or add speech recognition to existing applications. The Dragon NaturallySpeaking speech engine allows end-users to enter, edit and correct text by voice, as well as command and control the application by voice.

• ImprovedAchieveaccuracyratesupto99%. Enable continuous dictation into a specified standard Window or any kind of window with more accurate results than the previous release.

• ImprovedCreateNewUserProfiles.Developers can create new user profiles using the Dragon New User Wizard, or from within their applications with or without interaction with the end-user. The EFEnroll command-line utility offers the ability to create and train (enroll) a user profile using recorded speech files and a transcription of that recorded speech. Version 10 incorporates new acoustic models for better coverage of non-native and regional accents. Together with more powerful adaptation techniques, this will help end-users get better recognition accuracy from the very first use.

• Vocabulary.The Dragon vocabulary consists of a language model and files containing the words users can say. Developers can create custom vocabularies tailored for any dictation domain. GetCustomWords, a command-line utility that is available with the SDK, retrieves a list of custom words from a user’s vocabulary and stores the words in a file.

• Microphone.The Dragon NaturallySpeaking ActiveX controls include a microphone-button object (DgnMicBtn) that provides programmatic access to the microphone and a microphone button (with VU meter) that developers can display in the application’s user interface.

• ImprovedDictation.Developers can leverage the full feature set of the award-winning Dragon NaturallySpeaking, including free text dictation of up to 160 words per minute virtually anywhere you can type; easy correction by voice for complete hands-free operation; and dictation playback for fast editing.

• Voicecommands.Voice commands enable end-users to perform actions by speaking into the microphone rather than (or in addition to) using a keyboard or a mouse. Developers can code their applications to respond appropriately when a specified sequence or pattern of words is recognized as a command. Depending on the complexity and flexibility needed by an application, developers can create commands by using the DgnVoiceCmd object, making it easy to create a short list of literal commands and to nest one level of commands within them.

• texttospeech.Applications can output text in the form of speech by using a voice-text object and the text-to-speech engine provided with Dragon NaturallySpeaking, or any other SAPI-compliant TTS engine the developer provides.

• IntegratetranscriptionsfromAudiofiles.Applications developers can transcribe audio files into application windows or transcribe audio files into text and document files. DSC also includes the AutoTranscribe Folder Agent, a GUI tool that automatically transcribes recorded voice from audio files into user-specified directories.

development EnvironmentsThe Dragon NaturallySpeaking SDK Client Edition (DSC) provides developers with tools, including Dragon APIs, to integrate speech recognition capabilities into applications. When programming in the DSC environment, developers access Dragon's ActiveX controls using the Dragon APIs. Developers can program in any language that ActiveX controls support. However, officially supported environments in Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0, Windows ME, and Windows XP include Visual Basic 6.0, 7.1 and 8 and Visual C++ 6.0, 7.1 and 8.0.

• Multiplelanguages. DSC supports English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Dutch

• sDKruntime. Developers can install the DSC SDK runtime in a network environment. In other words, developers can push the software application out to client computers without having to install it separately on each client system. The DSC includes a native Windows Installer (MSI) that lets developers both install across a network to multiple client machines and customize installations. Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server, Windows Server 2003 and System Management Server (SMS) support this type of network installation. The installation administrator creates an image of the installation program on the server, and then configures the server to automatically push the application onto the client systems. Network installations can also be configured to modify, repair, or remove an existing installation.

• Command-lineandgUItools.DSC includes a Data Distribution Tool and NSAdmin tool that enables developers to interactively create new words, customized vocabularies or commands, and make them available to all user profiles on a particular Dragon NaturallySpeaking installation.
