He also holds a Certificate in Business Administration from the Business School of the same University and a Certificate in Geomatics from the Environmental System and Research Institute (ESRI/Montreal). In 1994, he was hired for two years as a Research Engineer for a Canadian Company (OCTOPUS System) specialized in intelligent transport systems. Between 1994 and 1998, Kettani was appointed as lecturer in the Department of Computer Science in Laval University and then as Invited Professor (until now). In 1998, he has been hired, by the Canadian Department of Defence and worked for two years as a Defence Scientist in the Defence Research Establishment in Valcartier/Quebec. In September 2000, Driss Kettani joined Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane as a professor of Computer Science. Further to his teaching duties, he leads several Research Laboratories with international grants from North America and Europe. Kettani’s expertise and scientific merit have been recognized by the national and international community through a number of distinctions and awards including: The National eMtiaz 2006 Award for the best ICT4D Research Project in Morocco; the TIGA (Technology in Government in Africa) in 2007 award by The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the Canadian e-Policy Resource Centre (CePRC); the 2008 United Nations Public Service Award (UNPSA); and the Arab Academia for Science and Technology (AST) Award in 2009, for the best research with impact on the field in the Arab Region.
