The Participants and Delegates

I would like to take this opportunity to express my respect and appreciation to all the Judges on the panel as well as the Judging Facilitator for working tirelessly and generously for the advancement of women inventors and innovators.

The independent judging process is a vigorous and quite challenging task and is characterised by integrity and impartiality. It is an exercise that brings together an independent judging panel from a diversity of backgrounds and disciplines. Each judge is selected for their outstanding experience, knowledge and understanding. Each judge is conscious of their responsibility in selecting the Female Inventor and Female Innovator for the prestigious and highly influential international awards.

Our task as Judges is to determine if the nominee has the necessary qualities of an amazing inventor or innovator with an item that would have a positive impact in society with tenacity and a determination to succeed. We take into consideration several criteria such as Evidence of the Practicality, Market Potential, Originality, Novelty, Effectiveness, Technical Competence, Enhancement and Increase in Ability, Capacity or Skills, Design, Originality or Use of Colour, Suitability of Materials, Workmanship, Attention given to Detail, Financial Viability, to name a few.

Congratulations to all the Award recipients, you have done extremely well to have gotten this far. I wish you all continuous success in your various ventures.

Diane Morris FRSA

Chairman, Global Women Inventors & Innovators Awards Judging Committee, Liveryman of The Worshipful Company of Marketors, and The Worshipful Company of World Traders.

Past Chairman of the European Women inventors and Innovators Awards Judging Committee (EUWIIN) Past President of The International Alliance for Women (TIAW).

It seems like yesterday when I first came up with the idea that ingenious women deserve to be acknowledged and brought more to the forefront 21 years ago. With hardly any record of women’s contribution to intellectual property it became absolutely necessary to work towards an inclusive society that recognizes and acknowledges women that strive tirelessly with unimaginable tenacity and determination against all odds. It has been a tremendous and most worthwhile experience despite the uphill struggle associated with bringing new ideas to the forefront.

It gives me great pleasure to witness this assembling of brilliant minds where best practices can be shared, new knowledge acquired, research opportunities encouraged and hands-on technologies solving pressing global issues are highlighted. It is also an occasion where the brilliance in the simplest of low technology with high viability of various works by exceptional creative women is highly acclaimed.

It is an environment where we reinforce the power of key issues relating to research and product development, intellectual property rights, access to finance, international trade, equity and commercialization.

The issue of personal development as well as the importance of individual role models and mentors in promoting inventiveness, innovation and enterprise remains a key aspect of this occasion and can be readily tapped into by making use of the networking opportunities during these two days of interaction.

Please take this time to meet as many people in the social, private, and public sector to collaborate and exchange ideas and insights. Congratulations to everyone being presented with an Award, you absolutely deserve it.

Our appreciation goes to the judging panel, all our sponsors, supporters and volunteers.

Overall, on behalf of all of us at the Global Women Inventors and Innovators Network, we wish you a most rewarding experience.
