ALL-AMERICAN DEFENSIVE BACK, CHRISTOPHER SHEFFIELD

ASC All-American Sheffield Signs With SteelersAlbany State College's All-American defensive back, Christopher Sheffield,

has signed to play professional football with the Pittsburgh Steelers of the Na tional Football League.

Reportedly, the ASC defense star negotiated a two-year free agent contract with the Steelers7 franchise in Pittsburgh at Three Rivers Stadium.

Specific terms of the contract were not disclosed. However, sources said it is a two year deal with several incentives. The total contract is estimated well over a $100,000 dollar figure.

Sheffield, a native of Cairo, Ga., was one of the SIAC conference's premiere cornerbacks having started at the position his last two years. Prior to playing cornerback, Chris led the Ram's offense as quarterback after an outstanding prep career at Cairo High School.

The 6'2", 185 pound defensive back this past season led ASC's "Rambo Defense" secondary with 59 tackles and three interceptions to earn several conference and post-season honors.

Sheffield, a lean wiry athlete, said, "my defensive responsibilities as a pro will 94 be similar to those I experienced at ASC; in fact, some situations even less/'
