“The goal of life is not live forever. The goal is to create something which will last forever”

We have a strong commitment to teaching and student learning at the

undergraduate level. Our students flourish under the mentorship of professors and staff

who care for students, inspire them to learn, and push them to reach beyond what they

perceive to be their limits. Challenges and Opportunities are two sides of the same coin.

Modern education, curriculum development and teaching methodologies have to keep

pace with the demand of the economic environment. Shri Nehru Maha Vidyalaya

College endeavors to educate a new generation of leaders—men and women who will be

capable of shaping the future with vision, justice, and charity—with a sense of calling,

with concern for all of the human family.

"We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth

for the future." “Tell me and I'll forget. Show me, and I may not remember, Involve me,

and I'll understand”. This is more relevant in the present day academic and professional

world, where the student should not be a mere blind receiver of lessons, but also have the

power and ability to critically examine them in the light of facts and situation, leading to

creativity, success and a sense of fulfillment.

As the President of this institution I wish you the students all the very best. I

appreciate the efforts put in by the editorial team for bringing the magazine to the present

shape and bettering their efforts to show case the college as excellent centre of learning. I

am indebted to one and all who are associated in making the institution one of the best in

the field of Education.

TRADITION VS MODERNITY“The modernity of yesterday is the tradition of today, and the modernity of

today will be tradition of tomorrow.” - Jose Andres Puerta

Technology has become an essential part of life today and is taking over our lives

because of the fast-paced world that we live in. But, it is high time that we all pause and take

stock of our lives. We have to ask ourselves whether a life lived without the cultural and

traditional values left behind by our ancestors is actually worth living. SNMV CAS has

always tried to uphold the ethnic values passed down to us through generations and it is one

of the reasons that SNMV CAS has been able to cross the milestone of twenty-five years of

success.

Traditional values like beliefs, moral codes and principles may be consigned to the

old-school by the young generation, but are in fact the pillars of any society. Moral values

can never be replaced by Technology. But, that is not to say that technological development

is unnecessary. It too, forms an important part of our social system. Human beings have to

make a careful choice or find a compromise between the two. Co-existence is the key to

existence. By bringing the old and the new together, it is possible to engage everyone at an

exalted level of thought processes and new ideas. The Management and the Faculty of every

college is responsible for inculcating moral standards and new concepts in the minds of the

youth. That is why, SNMV CAS has always striven towards a conciliation between the

traditional and the modern and will continue to do so in order to turn out more responsible

and morally conscious citizens of tomorrow.

Yours Sincerely

P. ASHOK KUMAR

DREAMS OF KALAM

“Great dreams of great dreamers are always transcended”– Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam

The year 2015 is a year that Indians will not easily forget because it was the year

that brought about the demise of the beloved Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam. It was a sad

moment, but also a moment of solidarity and singularity as all Indians came together as

one to mourn the great personality. Dr. Kalam was and will always be a person who

inspired students towards making a better India. He always placed his confidence in the

youth of the country. Now, it is time that we try to make his dream of India 2020 a

reality. As students and part of the youth brigade, all of you are faced with the challenge

of bringing about change for the better.

Change always begins with two simple questions – What would I like to change

in myself? and When would I want that change to take place? These are not easy

questions with easy answers because they require a degree of self- knowledge and self-

awareness. Unless we realize that we, as individuals, are intrinsic to the process of

change, there can be no transformation. So, instead of complaining it is high time that

we look at the concept of self-governance. We can change society if we change. That is

why SNMV CAS has always endeavored to keep up with the shifting scenarios while

maintaining its quality of Education. We salute the revolutionary Dr. Abdul Kalam and

hope that his vision of development and self-sustenance will come true in the coming

years because of your continuous efforts and energies. Jai Hind !!!

Yours Sincerely

BHARATHKUMAR JAGHAMANI

NATION-BUILDING

“The test of good citizenship is loyalty to country.” - Bainbridge Colby

Our commitment at SNMV CAS is to provide a safe and intellectually

challenging environment that will empower students to become innovative thinkers,

creative problem solvers and inspired learners prepared to thrive in the twenty-first

century. It is with pride that we claim that our institution has been able to do so and

fulfill its promise towards nation-building. Our nation is still in the process of

development and each of us has a major role to play. We are the architects of the future

and it is our floor plans that will design upcoming events.

For this, effective teaching methods including application of class-room

teaching to real life situations is necessary, which in turn signifies the need for more

practical training and hands-on experience. It also indicates the need to ask the right

questions about development, creative and critical thinking. The life-blood of any

institution is its faculty and its students. Without proper communication between these

two factors, there can be no progress. Hence, the onus is on all of us to create an

environment which is suggestive of nation - building in order to teach the youth to be

responsible and respective citizens of an India which is not only beautiful but also

advanced in all fields. In conclusion, I hope that all the faculty and students of this

wonderful institution, SNMV CAS, will put their hands together and frame an India

that is invincible. All the Best!!!

With Best Wishes
