Thank you so much for those who supported our very successful “virtual” farmers market for three weeks. Also, a HUGE thanks to the vendors and volunteers who made it possible. Thanks to Governor DeSantis’ and local government’s swift action to begin reopen- ing our state, we are now open to the public with “essential” items for the past four weeks. These four weeks have been amazing for the public and the vendors. Spirits are lifting. We have been gradually adding artists as space allows. Due to tent spacing we don’t have the space for all of our vendors at this time. Be assured we are implementing safety standards for the public and our vendors according to guidelines. We will have traffic lanes marked so people are not just wondering as in the past. We sincerely appreciate your support. Downtown Punta Gorda Farmers’ Market WELCOME FROM THE MARKET MANAGER We’re Back! Thank you so much for those who supported our very successful “virtual” farmers market for three weeks. Also, a HUGE thanks to the vendors and volunteers who made it possible. New procedures to be followed every Saturday until further notice by all vendors:

COUPONS AND CONTESTS Contest: On the right side of page 3, there is a recipe. All of the ingredients can be pur-chased at the Market. Should you choose to enter, please let us know which vendors you purchased each ingredient at, photo of the end result and any com-mentary on the dish and/or your experience at the market. (A photo of all the ingredients on your counter would be nice, but not required. There will be a prize of a $15.00 Gift Certificate to be used at the market and we will feature the winner in next month’s newsletter. Don’t like to cook, no problem, share this with your foodie friends and let them make it and enter. Submit entries to: [email protected] Reader Input: In an attempt to make this newsletter more interactive with market patrons and ven-dors, we will be accepting editorials relevant to the market. It can be as simple as a quote like the one from Mrs. Juanita Harris on page two, or as long as a couple of para-graphs.

FRESH ACCESS BUCKS

Fresh Access Bucks (FAB) is a USDA funded statewide nutrition incentive program that encourages SNAP recipi-ents to redeem their benefits at Farm-ers’ markets, produce stands, CSAs and mobile markets to purchase healthy produce directly from Florida Farmers’.

At participating locations, FAB match-es or discounts what a SNAP cardhold-er spends with FREE Fresh Access Bucks - unlimited, every Saturday to spend on Florida- grown fruits & vege-tables. Other than qualifying & receiv-ing SNAP benefits, there is no need to sign up or do anything in advance.

SNAP/EBT PARTICIPANTS

Exchange SNAP tokens with partici-pating vendors around the market for SNAP-eligible items: fruits and vegeta-bles, bread products, meat, fish, poul-try, eggs, dairy products, seeds & plants which produce food to eat. Exchange free green FAB tokens for Florida-grown produce, plants, and seeds that produce food. Match up to $no limit: SNAP/FAB$ no limit per market day SNAP and FAB tokens do not expire.

FAB tokens can be used at any FAB market.

From The South
