Today, the small market towns of Hawick, Innerleithen, Selkirkand Peebles produce some of the world’s finest tartans, tweeds andcashmere. Their iconic brands and products are found in the bestinternational boutiques, but you can also find them right here, inour high streets and factory outlets.
You’ll also find romantic ruined abbeys, historic houses, fishing,golf, horse-riding, unique festivals and culture, excellent eateries andaccommodation, and the friendliest welcome in Scotland. Whateverthe time of year, the Scottish Borders’ special magic will leave yourelaxed, restored, and coming back for more.

Picturesque Peebles on the River Tweed is only 23 miles
from Edinburgh. As Scotland’s Top Independent Retailing
Town, it’s known for a range of quality outlets for tweed
and knitwear, as well as other shops and eateries.
Head further along the Tweed to Innerleithen for luxury
cashmere shopping, or on to Selkirk for fascinating tartan
mill tours. W
hile you’re there, visit nearby Abbotsford House,
the magnificent former home of Sir Walter Scott, and the
man responsible for tartan’s huge popularity.

All the knitted goodsbearing the name William Lockie are knitted inHawick, using only the best quality yarns and thelatest technology. Collections consist of classic andcontemporary designs and body shapes in cashmere,camelhair, geelong, merino, lambswool and cottons.They supply the very best retailers throughout theworld, and the store offers a wide selection oftheir latest products. A hand intarsia knitter isalso in the store to show how the intricate designwork is achieved.
