meditatewithoutanyformalityoftakingthispositionorthatposition.Whilewalkingyoucanmeditate.Youcanactuallybeconnectedtothesoundwhiledoingexternalwork.Itisaverybeautifulexperience,andwithpracticeyouwilldefinitelygetit.Iwassharingthesethingsastipsfromexperiencehowyoucanimprovethemeditationthatmanyofyouarealreadydoing,butdon’tmissthemainelements.One,youmuststartafterfirstlocatingyourselfbehindtheeyes.Justsittingwhereyouareandclosingeyesdoesnotmakeagoodstart.Goodstartistoimagineyouarebehindtheeyesinyourheadandthenstart.Second,introduceloveanddevotioneverytimeyoumeditate.Talktothemasterandaskhimforhelptosuchanextent.Youcanevenaskhimtomeditateforyou.Say,“Master,Iunderstandyoucandoeverything.Whydon’tyoudoalittlesimranformealso?”Andyourexperiencewillshowmasterwillstartdoingsimran,andyoucansitandlistentoyourmasterrepeatingyourwords.Thatiseasy!Thatiswonderfultohearyourmaster’svoicedoingsimranforyou,andyouarelistening.Mastersays,“Come,let’sgo,let’sfly,”andyouflywiththemaster.Heisnexttoyouupinthesky.Youhaveapermanentcompanionship,afriendshipthatwillnevergoaway.Suchisthevalueofhavingaperfectlivingmasterwhocaninitiateyouandbecomeyourfriendforever.Alittlechildgavemethreequestionsyesterday.Sheissosmall.Herquestionsincludedthequestionthat,“Whatisinitiation?”Forachildtoaskthisquestionisveryimpressiveforme.Myanswerwasverysimple.Itisthatwhenthemasteracceptsyouandbecomesyourfriend,whenhebecomesyourfriendforever—thatisinitiation.Initiationisnotthemethodofteachinghowtorepeatwords.Initiationisnottellingyouwhatwordstorepeat.Initiationconsistsofthemasterbecomingyourpermanent,everlastingfriendwhoyoucanaccessinside,towhomyoucancomplain,talk,anything,wherethereisnothingsecret.Whateverproblemsaretherewhichyoucan’tsharewithanybody,youcansharewiththemaster.Itisaverydifferentexperienceoftruefriendship.Wehavehadsomegreatfollowersofmasters.Ihadthegoodfortuneofhavingdarshanandtheircompanyformanyyears.Oneofthemwasaveterinarydoctor,whosenamewasDr.IsherSingh.Hewasasimpledoctor,buthewasworkingforabigman.HewasworkingfortheMaharajofKapurthala,astatenottoofarfromBeaswheremymasterwasliving,BabaSawanSingh,GreatMaster.SoDr.IsherSinghhadheardthattherewasamastersomewhereonthebankofthatriverBeas,buthenevertookinterestuntilhefoundoutthattwoofhisMuslimneighborsinKapurthulawerefollowersofthatmaster.Heaskedthem,“Iwanttomeetaperfectmaster,andIhavestudiedalltheliterature,Ihavebeenreadingallthebooks.CanIseehim?”Theysaid,“Ofcourse!Wearehisdisciples.Youjustgoandmeethim.Hehasalittlehut,alittleplacewherehelivesrightthreemilesdownfromthemainGittiroadontheriverBeas.
