Last June 15, Monday, the students and faculty of
Wesleyan College of Manila celebrated John Wesley Day at
the school auditorium. The said yearly event was done to
remind the students about the good deeds of John Wesley
and honor him for it.
John Wesley said "Do all good that you can. By all
the means that you can. In all the ways that you can. In all
the places you can. At all the times that you can. To all the
people you can. As long as ever you can".
“We got to know all the Wesleyanians and we learned
more about John Wesley". Iber Omandac, a grade 8 student said
in an interview.
There was a small program that featured the story
of John Wesley and the story of Methodism. A small
guessing game about the small details of him was played.
The small but momentous event made it possible for the
students to know more about him on the celebration of
his special day with their fellow students, as well as the
school's faculty members.

WCM as Servant Leaders
By: Katrina Valencia
Last June 16-17 (Friday and Saturday), elected club of-
ficers attended a two-day seminar that was led by the Red Cross
Youth of the Philippine Red Cross. The said seminar aims to en-
hance and develop the student's leadership skills, their social in-
telligence and to strengthen camaraderie not just inside the cam-
pus, but also outside the corners of the school. Attending this was
required for the student running for a position on the Supreme
Student Government (SSG), club and class officers.
Anti-sexual Harassment Seminar
By: Hershey Tan
Sexual Harrasment is a crime. The anti-sexual Har-rasment Seminar was discussed from Grade 9 to 12 students of Wesleyan college of Manila. The said seminar was held at the school's Audio Visual Room last June 27, 2017. Its purpose is to educate the students of what would happened when we har-assed someone and also to gave an idea of how it should be pre-vented.
There were activities as well as games that was prepared
for the students to learn and enjoy. In the end of each and every
activity, the volunteer instructions explained the value of doing it
and made the students realize something. There was also a brief
discussion about the history of Red Cross, from its purpose.
"Sexual Harasssment is a big problem in our country. In our state, we can't really do anything about it. Unless, the Presi-dent implements a law." said a grade 10 student, Kokoi Medina
"Women should be respected. They shouldn't be treated like slaves." said a grade 9 student, Nathaniel Tan.
In order to prevent Sexual Harassment, report the inci-dent to the police as soon as you feel harassed. In this way, we can prevent people from getting harassed. It is the best thing we can do for now.

WCM Horizon History
By: Katrina Valencia
WCM Horizon started last September 2014. For years, the said organization inspired many people to express theirselves not only verbally but also written. It helps the parents or guardians to have extra knowledge on how their children excel in academics, as well as sports, and such extra curricular activities.
In this organization, the members found not only a new friend, but also a family. It aims to enhance the writing and verbal skills of its members, inform and entertain the students, and faculty members of the school. Each and everyone of the members are will-ing to serve the school though that take this chance as a challenge on their high school life. Until now, the organization continues to ex-pand and hopefully, many talented students out there will come join the club.

Dengue Fever Awareness
By: Lyka May Pauline F. Fernandez
Wesleyan College of Manila recently held a seminar regarding the dangers of Dengue Fever and how it can be prevented to ensure the safety and well-being of the students.
Dengue is widespread in tropical and subtropical countries and with the rising temperature and frequent rains that we are currently experiencing; Dengue fever becomes more prevalent than ever. Dengue fever is a vector-borne disease that is usually spread by mosquitos. Its most common carriers are the female mosquito, Aedes Aegypti, a day-time feeder. Dengue fever is not contagious. It is spread when a mosquito bites an already infected person. Within one week, the now infected mosquito can transmit the disease to a healthy person through biting. Those who have shown the first symptoms of dengue are quarantined to prevent them from being exposed to mosquitos. Although the overall experience of having this disease is unpleasant, dengue fever is usually not fatal but can escalate to a more dangerous version known as “Severe Dengue” or “Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever" , if not properly treated and diagnosed. Dengue Fever is characterized by a high fever, headaches, pain behind the eyes, nausea and vomiting, swollen glands, joint, bone or muscle pains, and rashes. There is no specific treatment or medicine for Dengue; treatment is purely centered on relieving the symptoms accompanied by bed rest and fluid intake to prevent dehydration.
The following are the helpful tips to prevent dengue:
1. To reduce the risks of acquiring dengue, it is best to kill it at its roots.
2. Get rid of plastic bottles, tires, and other materials that can become a breeding ground for mosquitos, cover clean water containers properly.
3. Wear long sleeves to prevent yourself from being bitten.
4. It is also good to apply mosquito repellants.
Dengue is a pandemic prone disease but with proper knowledge and action, we as a community can help reduce or even
eliminate the cases of Dengue Fever.
“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”
- Benjamin Franklin

“Say Sorry”
By: Euclid Quemada
I would call you from time to time
Reminding you you're mine, only mine
Fearing you'll end up in to other people's arms
Leaving me alone laying under the stars
I'm sorry dear, I didn't stay strong
I know letting you go was wrong
I should have listened to your explanation
But I had enough of you giving in to your temptation
It isn't you fault that you didn't stay faithful
But it is mine for believing your bull
I shouldn't have let myself fall
But I was vulnerable that time, that's what I recall
“Laro”
Ni: Angel Laoang
Sa laro natin, paulit-ulit
Kung saan ako lagi ang taya
Ikaw ang langit,
Ako naman ang nasa lupa
Ako'y nadaya, pina ikot-ikot mo
Sa larong wala akong kasiguraduhan,
Ako'y sumali at nakipaglaro sa'yo
Oras at pawis ang sinayang ko
Sa huling laro na aking sinalihan,
Ako'y pumikit at nagbilang
Isa...Dalawa...Tatlo
Ikaw ay tumakbo palayo
“Poetry”
By: Katrina Valencia
Poetries are mistery
Once expressed my misery
And the feeling seems to be eery
Seeing you with her
Makes my heart shiver
'Cause all I want is to keep you forever

“I'll Be”
By: Katrina Valencia
I'll be there for you
When the rain starts to pour
I'll be there for you
Like I've been there before
I'l be there for you
'Cause you were there for me too
As I hold you today,
And through the years that fly away

LITERARY 7
Ako'y nagtaka dahil mukha mo'y tulala
Nakatingin sa malayo tila may inaalala
Ako'y nagtanong kung ano ang iyong problema
Yun pala ika'y may mabigat na dala
Sabi mo'y ika'y binalewala
Ng taong minahal mo ng sobra
Nagulat ako sa iyong ginawa
Ako'y niyakap mo ng bigla
Tayo'y nakatayo sa tumataas na baha
Hinayaan kong tumulo ang iyong luha
Pagkatapos ng eksena
Tayo'y nagpasya
Umupo sa tabi ng kalsada
Naghintay na ang ulan ay tumila
Hiningi ko ang iyong numero
Bago ka humarurot papalayo
Nakatitig sa mukha mo'y napagtanto
Kahit sino'y mahuhulog sa katulad mo

“So Near, Yet So Far”
By: Hershey Tan
Come to think of it, you're near
But yet you are so far
I can't explain how it happened
All I knew was I loved you
You were so near but you are so far
Confusing, isn't it? That's how I feel
Should I go on or should I stop?
Should I give up or should I continue?
Knowing you're near, but feeling you're far
Sitting beside each other without saying a word
How can you endure this situation?
Am I just a friend---a nobody to you?
“I Like You, I Love You”
By: Beverly Ragos
Hey do you know?
I can no longer hide these feeling I have inside, hoping
you would understand
Hoping that I stand a chance,
So here it is;
Hey I like you
Everything about you
They asked me why I couldn't answer; then your smile,
laugh, eyes, just everything about you flashed in my mind
and I was lost in it;
I smiled and answered; "all of him"
Hey you, yes you!
I love you and it hurts that
You don't feel the same way too;
I just want you to know that my love for you is true
Hey I'm trying to get over you
But you're making it hard to do
Tell me what to do, 'cause
I just can't stop loving you
