What Makes Two Wire Irrigation Controllers Different fromTraditional Systems

Two Wire Irrigation Controllers system has just become popular. Yet, there are people who are not yetaware of it or in that case, how are they conventionally different from the other standard wiring systems. While to some, two wire irrigation controllers might seem to be a complicated system, let’s give you arather oversimplified outlook by explaining a typical installation process that will tell you how the systemworks when it comes to environmental monitoring.

Imagine a landscape that consists of a group of three valves, all of which are placed serially at a distanceof 50 feet apart. In order to wire the system conventionally, one needs to have a common or ground wirethat connects the first three valves to that of the controller. The wire then needs to be run back fromindividual valve to that of the controller.

Another ground wire would be required that would be run from the controller back to the group of valvesthat are situated at a distance of 100 foot mark. In addition to this, a 100-foot length of wire would need tobe individually connected to all the three valves.

For the final group of valves, a separate ground wire would be required along with other three individuallengths of wire. It is these wires that will connect each of the valves all the way back to the controller. Each of the wires is 150 feet long.

When you take the entire function process into mind, you will be surprised that all these are managedsingle-handedly using the two-wire technology. To give a more proper explanation, a two-wire technologyfunctions like a string of holiday lights. You plug one end of the string of lights into the controller and theentire valve system end up getting powered.

The entire system is functioned with the help of a series of decoders. That is – one decoder is used foreach of the valves. The decoders translate the signals that are received from the controller. It is thedecoder that works to control the valve box. The entire function of the two-wire technology iseconomically convenient.

Advantages of Two Wired Irrigation Controllers:

There are some cost and installation benefits of the two wired irrigation controllers. One of the bigreasons of choosing the two-wire system is that they require comparatively lesser copper wirethan traditional systems. This can turn out to be quite economical especially now that the copperis rising.

Compared to traditional systems, you would be able to save 80 percent on the wire.

The installation process is less time consuming.

Each of the valves comes with a programmed decoder along with a corresponding number.

The property manager would be able to control the entire station directly from one station.
