PROJECT OVERVIEW
USAID’s energy program, Catalyzing Clean Energy in Bangladesh (CCEB)Project supports the development of a low greenhouse gas (GHG)polluting economy and promotes clean energy, energy efficiency andenergy conservation in Bangladesh. CCEB is a five-year program beginning2012 and is implemented by Deloitte Consulting LLP. The key focus of theprogram includes:
Improving the Regulatory Environment for Clean Energy DevelopmentStrengthening Analytical Capacity for Energy Sector Planning &Policy-makingSupporting Industrial Energy Efficiency Analysis and AdoptionPromoting Demand Side Management Programs for Electric UtilitiesConducting Market Analysis and Promotion of using Improved Cook stoves

CAUSES OF INEFFICIENCIES
Non engineered design & planning•Improper sizing & improper dimensioning•Actual capacity confirmation•No energy efficiency concept•Improper placement or plan layout•Improper & non linear heating
Non professional installation•Non professional workmanship•Non trained & unskilled contractor•Copy of traditional installation
![Page 16: Wellmake Cceb Usaid 01](https://reader031.vdocuments.site/reader031/viewer/2022020223/577cc78a1a28aba711a14472/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
CAUSES OF INEFFICIENCIES
Poor quality materials of installation•Low price consideration•Locally available materials
Inefficient operationImproper maintenance•Lack of trained & skilled manpower•Lack of technical know how•No idea about energy efficiency
![Page 17: Wellmake Cceb Usaid 01](https://reader031.vdocuments.site/reader031/viewer/2022020223/577cc78a1a28aba711a14472/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
BARRIERS OF ENERGY EFFICENCY ACHIEVEMENT
Lack of owner’s interest on energy efficiencyOwners (decision making persons) are too busy to think about energyefficiency. Very hard to reach themNo perceived value for free services - Perceived as student class projectNot necessary-already doing/not needed-Negative approach ofemployeesNegative attitude of middle management for personal egoAbsence of qualified positive attitude personnel to implement energyefficiency activitiesData on energy use of systems is very limited. Industrial systems are nottypically separated metered, so the cost of their operation is not known tomanagementOpportunities to become more energy efficient are overlooked
