Theresearchconference“Transitions,careerlearningandcareermanagementskills.Multi-disciplinaryandcriticalperspectives”takesplaceat19-20October2017atStockholmUniversity,andisorganisedbyagroupofresearcherswithinthenationalresearchnetworkCareerDevelopmentandCareerGuidance,KAV(Karriärutvecklingochkarriärvägledning).TheconferenceholdscontributionsfromSweden,Austria,Ireland,Germany,Norway,Denmark,Finland,Hungary,Portugal,Bulgaria,MaltaandCanada.Theconferencebringsupcurrentlymuch-discussedissuesinsocietyandpolitics,inSwedenandinternationally:howcareerchoiceandcareerdevelopmentaffecttheestablishmentandmobilityofindividualsintheirworkinglifeandmaypreventsocialmarginalizationandexclusion.However,Swedishresearchconcerningyoungpeople’sandadults’transitions,careers,andcareercompetencesisrelativelysparseininternationalcomparison,alsoascomparedtoseveralofourNordicneighbourcountries,andmulti-disciplinaryapproachesareuncommon.Theconferenceaimsatinitiatinganddevelopingmultidisciplinaryresearchcollaborationwhichcanleadtoincreasedknowledgeaboutandcriticalunderstandingoftransitions,careerlearningandcareercompetence,bybringingtogetherSwedishandinternational,particularlyNordic,researchersfromvariousdisciplineswhosharesucharesearchfocus.Registrationopenatwww.kav-net.se

Dr.Borgenhasconductedresearchandhasdevelopedprogramsregardinglifetransitionsandcareerdevelopmentforseveralyears.HisworkhasbeentranslatedandadaptedforuseinBhutan,Denmark,Finland,Hungary,andSweden.In2005hewasawardedanhonorarydoctoratefromtheUniversityofUmeåinSwedenforhisleadershipinthedevelopmentofcounselloreducationinSweden.Dr.BorgenwasthePresidentoftheInternationalAssociationforCounsellingfrom1998–2006.HeiscurrentlyamemberoftheExecutiveCouncilofIACandamemberoftheBoardofDirectorsoftheInternationalAssociationforEducationalandVocationalGuidance.In2011hereceivedtheStuCongerAwardforleadershipincareerdevelopmentinCanada.
