INTRODUCTION
1. The State Govt has granted the mining lease for Quartz, Feldspar & Mica in Mouza-
Dhab, P.S.-Koderma (Now Dhab), Thana No. - 11, District - Koderma, Jharkhand over an
area of 7.24 Acres (2.93Ha) in favour of M/s Durga Prasad Singh a partnership firm in
village At + PO – Masnodih, Dist –Koderma, Jharkhand. (Photocopy of Lease deed has
been enclosed as annexure-2)
2. Now Mining plan including progressive mine closure plan in respect of Dhab Quartz,
Feldspar & Mica mine is Prepared based on Gazette notification no 333 Published on 10
Feb 2015.
3. While preparing the mining plan, proper attention has been paid to ensure that the
relevant provisions under MMDR Act-1957, MMR-1961, and Mines Act-1952 & Mines
Rules-1955 have been followed. All safety measures, provided in the statue, will be taken
into consideration.
4. Required numbers of competent and qualified persons will be appointed for exercising
control, direction and supervision of safe working.
5. The method of mining is proposed to be mechanized mining with employees 10 miners
and 5 unskilled workers.
6. For baseline, data assistance has been taken from the data, available from local
authorities as well as from websites.

1.5. Name of the Prospecting Agency: Pegmatite exposed on quarries and exposure also visible on the lease area. Prospecting
was carried out by GSI long ago, reports are not available. However, before preparing
mining plan Sri P.K. Sen and team, Mining Consultant being assigned by the Lessee,
visited the area and conducted survey and reconnaissance exploration of the area.

CHAPTER – II LOCATION & ACCESSIBILITY
2.1. Location & Accessibility: Dhab Quartz, Feldspar & Mica mine is situated near about 40 Km away from Koderma
Railway Station. The nearest Airport is Ranchi airport is about 200 Km away & the
nearest highway NH-31 is about 20 km away from the area.

2.3. Availability of Water, Power, Medical & Educational Facilities: Sakri River is flowing 11 km away from South-East to North-West on North-East side of
the area. Dispensary and local hospital facilities are available at Dhab is about 2km away
from the site. Local educational facilities, at Dhab school is available about 2 Km away
from the lease area.
2.4. Key Plan: The area has been marked on Toposheet No. G45T14 of survey of India, showing the
vicinity of the area on scale of 1:50,000 (Plate No.1). 2.5. Area Plan:

CHAPTER – III GEOLOGY AND EXPLORATION & RESERVE
3. (a) Topography :
The granted P.L. area represents undulatory land with rock mass of Pegmatite. The highest
contour is found 295 m. from mean Sea Level and the lowest contour is of 271m. The vein
trending N-S is approximately 201m in length & 45m wide. The area bears scattered vegetations.
Mostly different kind of bushes is found in the P.L. area. There is no human settlement within the
area. Sakri River is flowing 11 km away from South-East to North-West on North-East side of the
area. Regional Geology This mining lease lies within the ‘Bihar Mica Belt’ extending in ENE – WSW direction for a length
about 150 Km and in width about 20 Km near about Gajhandi Railway Station (E.R.) – the
western and of the ‘Belt’ approximately in Hazaribagh and Hawada Districts, Longitude 85o28’
and Latitude 24o30’ to about 40 Km at Tisri Longitude 86o04’ and Latitude 24o35’ in Giridih and
Munger Districts which form the eastern end of the Belt.
Feldspar, quartz and mica occur in pegmatite as intrusive body into the country rocks gneiss and
schists. The pegmatite constituents are potash feldspar, quartz and, Mica along with some
accessory minerals like Beryl, Tourmaline, apatite, garnets etc. The presence soda – lime –
plagioclase maintains higher temperature and influence slow cooling of pegmatite magma, thus
favoring the formation of porphyroblasts of potash feldspar in Dhab Mine.
These gneisses and schists have been classed as Bengal gneisses in geological classification of
Archean gneisses. The main constitutional characters of these gneisses are that they are finely
foliated of heterogeneous composition so that the different schistosity planes have materials of
different composition from place to place. The gneisses are closely associated with schists,
varieties of accessory minerals are present in these gneisses and schists such as Magnetite,
Ilmenite, Garnets, Feldspars, Dumetorite, Andalusite, Sillimanite, Plagioclases, Beryl, micas
muscovite and mostly biotite and chlorite etc. In that manner it differs from Bundelkhand
gneisses and Nilgiri gneiss even their being of the same age.
The above said ‘Bengal Gneiss’ spreads far and wide into Bengal, Manbhum, Bihar, Orissa,
Rewa, Nellore, Karnataka and Rajasthan etc. between the please mentioned rock types, but the
homotexial and constitutional relations of respective gneisses and schists are same and mica
pegmatite occur in them.

The Bihar Mica Belt lies on the northern fringes of the Chotanagpur Plateau. The southern
margin of the ‘Belt’ may be near Parsabad Railway Station (E.R.) – the third station on S. E. from
Kodarma at Longitude 85o 45’ and Latitude 24o17’ on Eastern Railway Grand Chord section
running E.N.E. to Kharagdiha, Longitude 86o10’ and Latitude 24o25’. The northern margin of the
‘Belt’ may be on line from KAVAKOL longitude 85o55’ and Latitude 24o53’ in Nawada District to
Jamui Longitude 85o15’ and Latitude 24o58’ in the district of Munger and its W.S.W. extension to
about 10 km North of Gajhandi Railway station mentioned above.
It is also important to note that the ‘Bihar Mica Belt’ mineralogically divided into three zones –
mainly Northern zone, the Middle Zone Southern zone, Kodaibank mine lies in Southern zone.
The southern margin of ‘Bihar Mica Belt’ meets a series of granite intrusions. The granites are
characterized by having good percentage of plagioclase feldspars of varying composition from
albite to oligoclase. The Chotanagpur Plateau, Far and wide, consists of complex rock types,
granite and gneisses mixture described by various names such as migmatite, metapelite and
para amphibolites. The chief characters of the Bengal genisses are that they exhibit ‘Spheroidal’
weathering which is generally observed here and there in the mica field.

4 (c) Geology of the Area
Out of the sequence of rock formation described above it is found that in this area the main rock
types are the surface soil Alluvium directly overlying pre- Cambrian Meta Sedimentaries of ‘Mica
Belt’ – the gneisses and schists with associated pegmatite.

Description of Rock Types: Alluvium (Soil Cover): Alluvium occurs mostly on low lying ground close to nalas in patches of varying extent and
thickness. The alluvium is yellow in color, fine grained and plastic, suitable as potter’s clay. It is
precipitated clay devoid of any rock boulders or pebbles.
Alluvium with boulders: This type constitutes of soil with boulders large and small of pegmatite minerals and rock and
schist rounded all and faceted mixed soil and spread over ground surface.
Pegmatite: It is revealed that it is a zoned pegmatite having a prominent Quartz zone and a Quartz-Feldspar
zone. Most of the mica concentrations have been observed located in between the one zone.
The second level is almost stopped out but the test inclines indicate the pegmatite as a
promising one.
Mica Schist and Gneisses: The mica schist and gneisses are finely foliated and of heterogeneous composition. The different
schistosity planes being characterized by material of different composition. The gneisses are
closely associated with schists of various compositions. The weathering of schists is
characterized so that it gives rise to ellipsoidal masses by the exfoliation of the rocks in regular
circular scales. From this peculiarity the gneisses have received the name of ‘Dome Gneisses’.
The schistosity type of Bengal gneisses is regular as probably the older member of Archean
complex. Mica schists and Gneisses are almost covered by the old debris, so it is difficult to plot
on the Geological plan.

Composition of the Parent Rock Mica Schist: The parent rock is mica schist constituted mainly of Muscovite along with Biotite, Feldspar,
Quartz, Andalusite, Garnet etc; major minerals being Ruby Mica (Muscovite), Quartz, Potash
Feldspar – Orthoclase and Microcline.
Composition of the minerals: Biotite : K2O, 2 (Mg.Fe.O) 3, Al2O3. 6SiO2, 2H2O
Muscovite : K2O, 3Al2O3, 6SiO2, 2H2O
Microcline of Orthoclase : K2O, Al2O3, 6SiO2
Quartz : SiO2.
Composition of Pegmatite
The mineral composition of the pegmatite of in this area is Mica, microcline and orthoclase as
potash feldspar and quartz.

4 (d) Details of Exploration Carried out so far:
The previous exploration of the area has been carried out by GSI long back. Now the exploration
of the lease area has been done by the lessee by making pit and drilling via DTH.
Number of pits and trenches indicating dimensions, spacing etc along and across the strike/foliation with references to geological plan. QUARRY NO – 1: The size (average) of the quarry is 52mX25mX4m and is located at central
part of the area. Pegmatite body exposed containing Quartz, feldspar & mica Pit no.1: The size (average) of the quarry is 14mX4mX4m and is located at central part of the
area. Pegmatite body exposed containing Quartz, feldspar & mica.
Pit no.2: The size (average) of the quarry is 8mx4mx2m and is located at northern side

3. (e) Geological Plan :
A geological plan is prepared on a scale of 1:1000 with a contour interval 1 m and grid interval of
100 m various litho units such as Soil, Pegmatite and soapstone exposed are delineated.
Summary of the exploratory work, which had made the basis for preparation of this geological
plan, are as follows.
3. (f) Geological Section :
A total of 4 nos. of Geological Sections namely A - A’………….. D –D’ is prepared at for the
entire deposit on a scale of 1:1000 across the strike of the exposure as well as longitudinally
passing through the mineralized zone. Based on the DTH data the Litho units are placed in the
section. 3. (h) Estimation of Reserves: Parameter of resources estimation:- The resources & reserve is estimated on the basis of UNFC Classification in the following
manner.
Reserve has been estimated based on availability of Quartz, feldspar & mica exposed and on the
basis of 7 drill holes within the area. On the basis of occurrence of deposit in these holes the
resources has been estimated on the basis of cross section X length of influence method.
a) Sections have been drawn from boundary to boundary across the lease area considering
the litho units in the area & location of the DTH.
b) Cross Sectional area have been estimated on the basis of cross sections.
c) Length of influence has been measured by the taking half of the section interval distance
on both side of each section.

d) Scrap mica will be recovered @30% of total volume of recovered (80%) pegmatite.
It is evident from the drill holes & quarry face exposure that a considerable thickness of
pegmatite body with concentration workable Quartz, feldspar & mica presents within the area.
Detailed geological mapping has been done & based on level of exploration & drilled log the
pegmatite body is mapped & the proved zone & probable zone also marked on the plan.
The occurrence of Quartz, feldspar & mica in the given directions can be justified with presence
of workable deposit in the drill holes where mica of considerable thickness, about 15m to 30m is
present as per log data and, hence, this type of massive and considerably thick deposit is likely
to continue in the area.
The measured mineral resources have been computed as the mica crops out in the existing drill
hole as demarcated in Plate No. 4.
In all the cases, areas have been taken as the area marked on Geological Plan. The bulk volume
has been calculated by multiplying length of influence with sectional area of the mica of drill hole
as derived. Geological resources have been estimated as in situ resources hence recovery
percentage is not taken into account.

CHAPTER – IV MINING
4.1. The entire area is highly potential area. The work will be started from the southern portion
of the area and further developed and advanced towards northern part of the area. In the
Lease area there has 1m soil. During quarry development some amount of soil will be
removed and this will be used for road dressing. The benching system 6mX6m will be
practiced in the area, in order to comply with the provisions of Metalliferous Mines
Regulations, 1961. Details of advancement and formation of benches are shown in
Development Plan & Sections (Plate Nos. 5, 5A 6, 6A 7, 7A 8, 8A, 9 & 9A) on the scale
of 1:1000.
4.2. Mining Strategy: it is proposed to carry out only opencast mechanized mining for this plan period i.e. five
years. The operations like drilling of shot hole, sorting of ore and loading will be done
mechanically by deploying 100mm dia wagon drilling to drill and blast holes having
burden and spacing of 3m x 3.5m in stagger grid pattern. Muffle blasting will be adopted
as precautionary measure.
4.3. Production Targets: Year wise Production of Quartz, Feldspar & Mica from the area has been calculated by
cross sectional method. The cross sectional area has been multiplied by the
advancement to be worked in each bench as length of influence to get the bulk volume.
Thus the value obtained has been multiplied by tonnage factor to get the actual
production of Quartz, Feldspar & Mica in each bench. Year wise calculation has been
made separately and the detail of year wise development of the quarry is given in Annexure.

4.4. Bench Design and Formation: Since the mine will be worked in mechanized working pattern during this proposed plan
period of 5 years, bench height will be restricted to the statutory 6m X 6m due to
compactness of the Quartz, Feldspar & Mica and as per the DGMS norms. Bench slope
angle will be maintained less than 45º.
4.5. Bench Development during the Plan Period: Working of the proposed five years will be started from the southern part of the area and
extended towards northern portion and further depth. Details of advancement and
formation of benches are shown in Development Plan & Sections (Plates: 5, 5A, 6, 6A, 7,7A, 8, 8A, 9 & 9A) in the scale 1:1000.
1st year: During 1st year working will be started from the Southern part of the area with
three benches of 6m X 6m in dimension. The benches RL are from 295m to 280m and
will be extended towards northern side. During quarry development topsoil will be
removed and this will be stored for future utilization.
Altogether 83613 tonnes of mineral will be generated @ 80% recovery including 37626
tonnes of Quartz, 20903 tonnes of Feldspar & 25084 tonnes of Mica.
Mica schist will also be generated as side burden during bench development and this will
be dumped in non-mineralization area.
For haulage activity 1 in 16 ramps will be maintained at the quarry face.

excavation and removal of Quartz, Feldspar & Mica in conjunction with deep hole drilling
and blasting.
In this connection, guidelines, issued by the Director of Mine’s Safety by various circular,
will be adopted.
While preparing a conceptual mining plan for the Quartz, Feldspar & Mica Lease, the
following points and percepts have been kept in view:
The lease area is existing area.
During this plan period of five years the area will be worked out except 7.5m safety
barrier. During the working in the plan period some amount of soil will be generated and
this will be used as road dressing. The voids, so left, will be filled with rain water and shall
be treated as water reservoir.
After the conceptual mining period, on the basis of proposed production planning and
available reserve position, the ultimate pit area, ultimate pit depth, ultimate generation of
waste, final pits slope, afforestation programme is given in the following table:

CHAPTER – V BLASTING
Blasting:-
Deep Blasting will be practiced in this area with 3m burden, 3.5m spacing after obtaining
required permission from the concerned authority prior to obtaining permission for deep
hole Blasting, Jackhammer, compressor combination drilling and blasting will be practice
with 1.5m burden, 1.5m spacing for production of quartz and feldspar.
5.1. Drilling and Blasting Parameters Blasting in open cast mines is of utmost importance not only because it has to be
compatible with the shovel/loader but also preferably as will obviate the necessity of
secondary blasting which is known to be very costly. The feed size for the crusher has to
be low below 600mm. because it is important that variations of the hardness of the
formation don’t result in waste use of explosive with unbalanced product size. It is also
important that fines generated are kept as low as possible.
The distribution of charge in the blast hole is as follows:
Bottom charge with booster (slurry explosives) and column charge also by low speed
slurry explosives will be charged in the ratio of 15:85 respectively.
Considering the nature of strata / deposit and height of the bench deck charging shall be
carried out in a following manner:
a) Deck charging with drill cutting.
b) Air decking.
5.2. Pattern and Sequence of firing The normal pattern of holes with 3m burden, 3.5m spacing will provide the best results.
The pattern of delay blasting in conjunction with use of detonating fuse will take into
account existence of any natural cleavage layout and sequence of firing of the blast –
holes pattern proposed for blasting.
Depending upon the composition of the formations, some degree of deck-loading may
have to be resorted for better fragmentation.
5.3. Types of explosives to be used. Nitro Mixture explosives are used for blasting. Deck charging is used wherever
necessary. 5.4. Powder Factor
It is hoped that powder factor of over 8 tonnes per kg. of explosives is achieved.

5.5. Storage of Explosives An agreement will be made by the lessee with the blasting agency before starting the
mine.
Drilling and blasting operations will be carried on strictly as per the provision of MMR,
1961 under the strict supervision of qualified persons. For storage and issue of
explosives, the relevant provisions of Indian Explosives Act, 1884 will be followed.
Blasting time is generally fixed at lunch interval or after the working shift-taking. All
required precautions, like marking the danger zone with red flags, use of warning signals
and providing blasting shelters etc.
5.6. Drilling and Blasting: Although the mine is very far away from any population, precaution will be taken to
minimize nuisance caused by blasting. All necessary safety precaution is being taken in
accordance with the explosive act. Precaution are also taken as per permission given
under MMR 1961 106(2) (b) by Director of Mines Safety for deep hole drilling & Blasting
and usage of heavy earth moving machinery.
Vibration: In order to minimize vibration the precautions shall be taken:
1. Blast holes shall be initiated by non-electric (NONEL) down-the-hole (DTH) delay
detonators.
2. Care shall be taken to ensure that effective burden is not excessive and the face
shall be kept sufficiently long. The burden shall be kept at 3m & spacing shall be 3.5m.
3. Optimum charge per delay shall be kept as low as possible.
4. The depth of the hole shall be normally 6 m, which includes about 0.6 meter of
sub grade drilling, i.e. about 10% of the depth of the hole. The diameter of the hole shall
be kept at 100 mm.
5. Adoption of two row blasting and V pattern of firing.
6. The firing of maximum possible no. of blast holes towards free face.
7. Use of delay detonators between the holes and rows of blasting.
Noise: The following steps have been taken to minimize pollution by noise.
1. Blasting is well designed & blasted periodically rather than couple of hastily
unplanned blast daily. All the explosive and the NONEL detonator is put within the blast
hole & instead of detonating fuse, NONEL trunk-line-delay-detonator is used for trunk line
connections.
2. Blasting shall be so planned as to minimize boulders, so that secondary blasting
shall be reduced.

3. Green belt with trees of varying height shall be developed around the quarry to
absorb the blast noise & reduce noise.
Fly rocks:
While blasting, if the holes shall be not properly designed and charged, the main thrust of
the blast will be upwards and instead of fragmenting the rock, there will be an outward
surge resulting in rock fragments flying. In order to prevent fly rocks:
1. Stemming length shall be kept equal to the burden.
2. Inter-row delay shall be selected in such a way each row pushes its burden
forward rather than in an upward direction.
3. Toe formation shall be avoided by proper design of drilling and blasting as
toe hole blasting involves increased risk of fly rocks.
4. To avoid fly rock problem at the edge of hill light charged muffle blasting shall be
under taken.

CHAPTER – VI MINE DRAINAGE
6.0. Mine Drainage: Sakri River is flowing 11 km away from South-East to North-West on North-East side of
the area. Likely depth of water table based on observations from nearby wells and water
bodies:
1. The water table is 20-25m below the ground level (Reported from nearby nala, RL
255m).
2. The area is more or less undulating and working will be done in this area above ground
water table.
3. Adequate number of diesel pumps will be kept standby. During rainy season water
from the pit, if available, will be sampled and the results will be submitted when required.
There is no surface water and ground water body available in the lease area. The
proposed area with its surroundings is gently sloping. Sakri River is flowing 11 km away
from South-East to North-West on North-East side of the area. The area is much above
HFL and there was no occasion of flooding in the area. From the tube well, sunk in the
area, it has been observed that the ground water table is 20-25meter below the ground
level. The quality of the water sample from the tube will be analyzed. The proposed
mining operation is mechanized and does not affect any pollution at the remarkable
scale.
An ambient water quality monitoring network will be designed for assessment of the
baseline status of ambient water quality. The parameters to be monitored are given as
below:

CHAPTER – VII STACKING OF MINERAL REJECT
AND DISPOSAL OF WASTE
7.1. Nature of Waste: In the Lease area average 1m thick soil cover has been reported from the old pits and
DTH log.
Mica schist has been reported with pegmatite body as per the DTH bore hole log data.
The mica schist will be removed during quarry advancement as side burden. 7.2. Selection of dump site:
During quarry development topsoil will be removed and stored at north eastern portion of the lease area for future utilization. During conceptual period plantation will be done over this dump for stabilization & less erosion of dumped soil.
Mica schist will also be generated as side burden during bench development and this will
be dumped in non-mineralization area. During conceptual period plantation will be done
over this dump for stabilization.

CHAPTER – VIII USE OF MINERALS
8.1. USE OF MINERALS: (a) Feldspar:
Potash felspar is mostly used in insulator manufacture and the glass and ceramic
industries. The glass and ceramic industries are the major consumers of Potash Felspar
and account for 80% of the total consumption. In glass industry Potash - K2O content is
important for its action as a flue and the alumina – AI2O3 content provides resistance to
impact, bending and thermal shock. In ceramic bodies Potash Felspar is preferred
although soda felspar works as a good flues and can be satisfactorily used in developing
ceramic bodies, because potash felspar has P.C.C. value 10 as compared to 0.9 of soda
felspar. Oligoclase high in lime, on fusion, becomes partially crystallized instead of
yielding solid glass, hence it is undesirable. Impurities of iron, manganese, Sericite and
lime plagioclases are deleterious in ceramics.
(b) Quartz: Quartz is one of the most common minerals. Quartz crystals if pure untwined clear and
transparent posses piezo – electric properties which are of great value in
telecommunication and hence of strategic importance. Quartz is also the source of silicon
which is of great industrial importance and is utilized in the manufacture of abrasives like
Silicon – Carbides, Silica – gel, the silicones, Ferro Silicon and of refractory like silica
bricks.
Silica sand is used for manufacture of glass in ceramics, for making china – ware and
porcelain and as refractory material. Also for special purposes in foundries for filler beds
sand for sheet asphalt and as an abrasive. Natural silica stone abrasives include the high
siliceous rocks, such as the hard compact sandstones, which are quarried and shaped
into suck articles as ground stones, pulp stones, grinding pebbles and liners. Diatomite,
Tripoli and natural amorphous quartz are natural silica abrasives.
(c) Mica :
Mica is a mineral that is commonly used in the electrical industry, to produce shingles and
other building materials, and to prepare samples for microscopy. It has also been used to
create window-like panes on stoves and lanterns, and to facilitate pigment suspension in
paints and dyes. Its sheet-like cleavage structure and high heat resistance make it an
ideal substance for these purposes.
According to the Minerals Education Coalition, mica is a key component in wallboard joint
compound because it gives a smooth consistency and prevents the dried substance from

cracking. It is also added to paint because it keeps the pigments from separating from the
paint base, promoting a more even color. Mica also makes paint more water-resistant. It
is added to plastics for the same reasons -- it provides reinforcement and helps molded
products achieve their shapes without cracking.
Mica is commonly used in the electrical industry because of its ability to withstand heat,
conduct electricity and withstand high voltage. High-quality muscovite mica is commonly
used as a dielectric substance in capacitors, and large sheets of mica are used as
backing for heating wires because of their high heat tolerance. In microscopy
laboratories, much smaller sheets of mica are used to mount tiny samples allowing for
visualization of plasma membranes and even DNA molecules.

10. Mineral Processing: For mica there is no need for mineral processing or mineral beneficiation to upgrade the
ROM Production. Here, mined out mica will be directly sold in different forms to the
buyers.
For grinding of quartz feldspar lessee decided to setup a crushing & grinding unit around
2 km away from the lease area prior to this the produced quartz & feldspar also will be
sold directly to the purchaser.

CHAPTER – XI ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT PLAN
Environment is always affected due to mining and more so, when the mining is an
opencast one. To look into the environment protection area and Environmental
Management Plan is prepared. The present scenario of environmental attributes and

11.1.3. Terrestrial Ecology: The study of Terrestrial Ecology involves the identification of animals, birds including
nomadic and migratory, reptiles and amphibian fauna. Further, the dominant species of
vegetation also needs identification.
11.1.3.1. Fauna: Only domestic animals like cow, goat, buffalo, cat, dog etc are observed / found in the
area. As there is no natural forest cover, the area does not contain any wild animals. Only
stray jackals are seen sometimes. Both poisonous and non-poisonous types of snakes
are seen during summer and rainy seasons.
11.1.3.2. Flora:
The area is virtually denuded with vegetation. Neem, Palash, Eucalyptus, Akashmani
trees are seen at places around the area.
11.1.4. Quality of Air: There are no crushers within 5 km. radius. Hence pollutant in the air is very low, only
noxious fumes of vehicles. Though, air analysis has not been done so far, but it appears
that air pollution level will be significant in the crusher area.

11.1.5. Climate: Separate statistical data for the area is not available on the climatic condition of
Jharkhand state.
The oppressive dry summer is the characteristic of the district. The temperature may rise
to 40 0c in May and June.
Temperature Range: 170 c– 400 c.
The rainy season, also hot and highly humid, starts from the 15th June and may last up to
September. Most of the rainfall occurs during July - August.
Average Rainfall: 1090 mm.
Winter starts from November and is very pleasant. It lasts up to February.
Temperature Range: 11.70 c– 27.30 c.
11.1.6. Social and Demographic Profile: Area within 5 km radius is shown in Plate No. 1 (Key Plan).

11.1.7. Public Buildings, Places of Worship and Monuments: There is no public building, places of worship or monument of historical importance within
the proposed lease area.
11.1.8. Whether the Area falls under Area under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act 1974: The area does not fall under the notified area.
11.2. Environmental Impact Assessment: 11.2.1. Relief and Landscape Alteration:
As the deposit is a below ground deposit, thus in time when the deposit will be mined out,
the topography of the lease area will be changed. Thus, the visual impact of the
topography will be different.
11.2.2. Impact on the Water Table:
As mining and crushing operations do not require much water and no chemical
beneficiation will be there, impact on ground water table will be nil.
11.2.3. Water Contamination: Sakri River is flowing 11 km away from South-East to North-West on North-East side of
the area. There is no chance of the river getting polluted. However, adequate control
measures should be taken for any water pollution due to the failing of dump material
during rainy seasons.

11.2.4. Air and Noise Pollution: There will be impact to a certain limit due to dust generation from crusher, transport
operation, waste dumping and drilling/ blasting. Similarly, due to mining and crushing
noise pollution will be there.
11.2.5. Impact on Climate: No impact on climate is anticipated due to proposal level of working.
11.2.6. Impact on Human Environment: The beneficial impact will be there due to possibility of generation of employment with
increase in production.
11.3. Environment Management Plan: It is observed that there will be limited impact due to proposed mining activity in the
area. However, control measuring will be initiated to counter the possible threat to the
environment. The various control measures and mitigating measures are shown in Plate
No. 11 and are discussed in details below.

Sharp drill rods shall be used to reduce dust generation.
Dust extractor shall be used to reduce dust generation.
Proper monitoring of air quality data shall be maintained and in case it exceeds
the permissible limit, adequate measures like covering the crushers shall be done.

Avenue plantation in and around the quarry, dump site and crusher areas shall be
raised.
The 7.5m safety barrier shall be used for green belt development at 2.5 m spacing
left all around and shall be used for plantation of trees with deep vegetation so that air
pollution from the mine can be arrested. Pollution from dust, smoke & due to blasting
shall be minimized by adoption of muffling system at stipulated interval of time.
Details of year wise greenbelt development along with number of plants and
required area. (Taking 1600 plants on 1 ha area or 2.5mX2.5m grid pattern) .Further
every year plantation will be done outside the lease area.

For development of green belt only local species will be taken for plantation,
green belt plantation will be protected properly, will be maintain daily by watering and
nursing. Rate of survival of the sapling on this area will be examined before plantation
and suitable precaution will be taken.
During plan period plantation will be done on the safety barrier.
11.3.2 Precaution against air pollution There shall be some air pollution as explosive in blasting are used & compressor, jack
hammer, tractor and trolley is required in the mine. Attempt should be made to reduce
this pollution & kept within permissible limits by sprinkling water on haul roads and
surrounding mining area.
11.3.3 Water Pollution Control Measures: As it is envisaged that chance of contamination of water is less, there is no need for direct
water pollution control measure. Garland drains; gabions etc are to be constructed so that
logged water during rainy season will be discharged after proper settling. 11.3.4 Storage of Top Soil/Rejects:-
There is generation of gritty soil, which will be temporarily dumped with suitable
precaution and during conceptual period this will be used for partly backfill the exhausted
quarry.
11.3.5 Noise Pollution Control Measures:- Besides drilling & blasting is also a potential source of noise pollution. In order to
minimize the noise pollution following measures are suggested:

Measures will be taken for control of noise levels below 75 dB (A) in the work
environment as per the DGMS standard. Green belt shall be developed along lease
boundary and transport road for minimizing noise level.
Proper and timely maintenance of machineries.
11.3.6 Land Reclamation When the deposit will be mined out then only the question of land reclamation will come.
It is proposed that after the completion of quarrying operation the excavated vacant area
will be converted into pool and will be utilized for irrigation and pisciculture purpose.
Embankment and wire fencing will be made surrounding the pool so that nobody can
intrude directly.

12.3. Review of Implementation of Mining Plan / Scheme of Mining including Five Years Progressive Closure Plan up-to the Final Closure of Mine:

12.4.0. Closure Plan: 12.4.1. Mined Out Land:
In general, the environmental impacts will always be adverse, due to mining operation, if
proper abatement measures will not be taken. The magnitude and significance of the
environmental pollution caused by mining, depends on type of mineral, method of mining
and beneficiation etc.
As a result of mining operation, the original ground profile will be altered. There is no soil
within this area so after exhausting of the mineral from the area the quarried out void area
will be converted into rain water harvesting pit or water reservoir

There is no surface water and ground water body available in the lease area. The
proposed area with its surroundings is gently sloping. Sakri River is flowing 11 km away
from South-East to North-West on North-East side of the area. The area is much above
HFL and there was no occasion of flooding in the area. From the tube well, sunk in the
area, it has been observed that the ground water table is 20-25 meter below the ground
level. The quality of the water sample from the tube will be analyzed. The proposed
mining operation is mechanized and does not affect any pollution at the remarkable
scale.
An ambient water quality monitoring network will be designed for assessment of the
baseline status of ambient water quality. The parameters to be monitored are given as
below:

(4) Mg-Concentration (5) Na- Concentration (6) K- Concentration
(7) HCO3—Concentration of bi-carbonate (8) Cl- Concentration of Chloride

12.4.3. Air Quality Management: The lease area is presently free from pollution. Due to the mechanized mining operation, it
will not affect the immediate vicinity of the mine lease area. There will be some deployment

of heavy machinery. Blasting & transportation will only create dust or air pollution which will
be of very less impact.
Dust, generated due to movement of vehicles will be checked by water sprinkling carried out,
time to time on all the approached roads. The dust generated due to crushing is negligible, if
increased; it will be checked by I.D. fan & cyclone system. Therefore, no significant impact
on the quality of air in the surrounding area is feared.
An ambient air quality monitoring network will be designed for assessment of the baseline
status of ambient air quality. The parameters to be monitored are given as below:
PM 2.5
Sulphur Dioxide (SO2)
Nitrogen Oxide (NO2)
Carbon Monoxide(CO)
The frequency of sampling shall be twice a week for complete one season. Ambient air quality
monitoring is proposed to be conducted for one season.
Noise: Equivalent continuous noise level (LAeq) in and around the project area will be monitored. Noise
readings will be taken at every hour for 24 hours at each location. The monitoring will be done for
one season as a part of EIA study.
Others: As a part of the study the information on the following will be collected through forest department
and revenue offices:
Preparation of an inventory of major species of trees, herbs, shrubs and timber trees in the area;
List of economically important plants, if any;
Presence of rare and endangered species, if any;
Preparation of an inventory of major wildlife species including mammals, Reptiles, birds,
etc.
National parks, if any;
Wild life sanctuaries game reserve, if any;
Tiger reserve / elephant reserve / turtle nesting ground, if any;
Breeding grounds, if any;
Core zone of biosphere reserve, if any;
Habitat for migratory birds, if any;
Mangrove area, if any;

The publications available in the form of maps and documents will also be collected and
utilized. The data on the availability of various floral and faunal species in the study area
will also be collected form Department of Forests and utilized.
12.4.4. Waste Management: There is no material which can be called as waste.
12.4.5. Top Soil Management: The gritty soil will be temporarily dump in the lease area with suitable precaution in the
northern part and then will be backfill of the lease area in the plan period.
12.4.6. Tailing Dam Management: Not applicable.
12.4.7. Infrastructure: The lease area is well connected with Tehsil and district head quarter by all weather roads
where all facilities are available. However, the Lessee shall have his own facility soon after
starting of the mine.
12.4.8. Disposal of Mining Machinery: It has already been mentioned that the whole mining operation is mechanized in nature.
Therefore, question does not arise for disposal of machinery at the stage of five years of plan
period.
12.4.9. Safety & Security: The Lessee will follow all the rules and regulations as per the provision of Director General of
Mines Safety for safety and security of the proposed mine. To prevent access to surface
opening or excavated area from cattle’s and local people, the Lessee will arrange security for
round the clock and round the year.
12.4.10.Disaster Management and Risk Assessment: The proposed lease area is small and the mining operation is completely mechanized in
nature. There is no any river or stream, flowing in direct vicinity of the proposed lease area.
No seismic activities are recorded in this area during the last 50 years as per the village

officials. The mining operation will not go to the much deeper side, hence chances of land
slide, subsidence etc is nil. The proposed project site falls in Zone-II as per IS 1893 (Part-I):
2002. Hence, seismically it is a stable zone.
12.4.11. Care and Maintenance during the Temporary Discontinuance: During such time the area will be protectively fenced and staff will be arranged for care and
maintenance.
12.5. Economic Repercussion of Closure of Mine and Manpower Retrenchment: It is not inferred to discuss the economic repercussion of mine and manpower retrenchment
at this stage.
12.6. Time Scheduling for Abandonment: The details of time schedule of all abandonment operations as proposed in Para – 4
should be described here. The manpower and other resources required for completion of
proposed job should be described. The schedule of such operations should also be
supplemented by PERT (Programme Evaluation & Review Technique), bar chart etc.

Financial assurance comes to be 2.68Ha x Rs 25000.00 per Ha = Rs 67000 /-. The minimum financial assurance specified by the state govt will be submitted in the form of
bank guarantee by the lessee to the concern authority of state government of Jharkhand before
execution of the lease.
12.3.23 Certificate: The above-mentioned actions have been taken to be stated clearly in the mine closure plan. A
certificate duly signed by the lessee to the effect that said closure plan complies all statutory
rules, regulations, orders made by the Central or State Government, statutory organizations,
court etc, have been taken into consideration and wherever any specific permission is required
the lessee will approach the concerned authorities. The lessee should also give an undertaking
to the effect that all the measures proposed in the closure plan will be implemented in a time
bound manner as proposed.
The above certificates are enclosed at the beginning of the mining plan.
12.3.24 Plans, sections etc: The chapters at 1, 2, 3 and 4 should be supported with Plans & Sections. The Closure Plan may
also be submitted depicting photographs, satellite images on compact disc etc. wherever
possible.
