If our current district situation continues to improve and the positivity rates continue to decline across Nassau County, we will begin to transition to daily in-person learning for our students in grades 7-12 in the coming weeks.
Timeline During the Month of MarchIf current conditions continue to improve and the current trajectory holds, the following timeline will be implemented:
● March 15, 2021 - Transition grade six students to traditional classrooms and grade 7 and 9 students to daily-in person learning
● March 22, 2021 - Grade 8, 10, 11 and 12 students return to full time in-person learning
Quarantine protocols will be updated at the secondary level to include “scooping” in the classroom when six feet distancing can not be maintained.
What are the options for leaning after March 15 and 22, 2021?
Full time in-person learning or full time remote learning:
As of March 15, 2021 for Grades 7 and 9
As of March 22, 2021 for grades 8, 10, 11 and 12
Hybrid learning will no longer be an option as of those dates for each grade level.
Next Steps
● The district began the process of adding additional furniture to classrooms and installing additional desk shields several weeks ago. (Continue for the next two weeks)
● Another important step is to transition the middle school gym and cafeterias back to their traditional uses. (March 13 and 14)
● Continue to monitor the data at the County, local and district level to ensure the positive COVID trend continues. All of these changes are contingent upon the successful resolution of our current situation and continued positive trends across Nassau County.
● It is important for the community to be aware that bringing more students back means the district can no longer maintain the recommended six feet of distancing within the classroom at the secondary level and there is the possibility of additional quarantining that must be done with each additional case.
● If additional spikes take place in the number of cases the district may shift to remote or hybrid learning at any time.
