MARCH 2015 Report
Talent Squad training session 2 22ND February 2015 HBF Stadium 12.00pm – 3.30pm This was a great session although we had to combine 2 groups as we didn’t have the hall until 1pm. That was ok though as 2 coaches combined and helped the other out as we went around. The girls had a range of drills and progressions that will help them in their up and coming season. The same gymnasts attended and I could even see an improvement in them from last year. Thanks again to Ben for helping with the rotations of Groups and to Josh, Stacey, Claire and Skyla for doing a great job on their apparatus. Next Talent Squad will be April.
WAG Judging Coordinator’s Report
March 2015 Education .
.Advanced course held on the 7th-8th March with 22 candidates. 15 judges passed and all received the 85% required to judge at Australian Championships. 6 judges have done a re-sit of the theory of which a further 4 have passed. 3 judges still to gain accreditation.
A good turn out of judges to support the TC Open training/Control test.
All FIG and Advanced judges have been advised that they must update prior to judging any NL 6 Qualifying competitions due to the changes with the ALP.
NL 6 workshops to be held on Sunday 8th March and Tuesday 10th March. Any judges not attending a workshop will not be eligible to judge at NL QC#1. Judges may come to QC#1 and side judge to update also.
Planning underway to run a Beg/Int judges course specifically for retired gymnasts. Judges Committee Meeting & Planning
GWA request to Judges Assembly for equipment funding for Loftus Centre upgrade
GWA have requested a sum of $50000 from the WAG Judges Assembly to contribute to the equipment upgrade.
TH responded to Ruth’s email on the 17th February with questions and requests for clarification on the request. Ruth was informed that the Judges Committee would be discussing the request at the meeting on 24th February. No reply was received prior to this meeting.
Melissa Read and Sharron Isard abstained from the discussion and vote due to a conflict of interest.
Questions/concerns were raised by the Judges Committee members: 1. As we have been asked to contribute to the upgrade in a substantial way(20% of entire cost),
why weren’t we consulted in some way about what was being purchased? 2. What are the implications insurance wise if we have purchased the beam/floor package and
an incident occurs? 3. Who actually owns the equipment? 4. Will we be asked to also budget for depreciation of the equipment we purchase as is the case
for the scoring system? 5. Big concern over the request for $50000 as it represents nearly half of our income in our
budget. 6. Concerns over budget income due to new event structure due to ALP introduction. 7. What will happen if we refuse the request or offer a limited amount of funding?
The Committee took a vote and approved the following to be proposed to GWA:
An amount of $15000 to be gifted to GWA for the equipment upgrade.
A further amount of $15000 to be offered to GWA as a loan arrangement. Suggestion for the loan to be paid back to the Judges Assembly through free venue hire for Judges Invitational Events (approx. $1500 per year) and negotiate a reduced Administration fee over a period of 10 years or until paid back.
Request that the money funded is not for specific equipment packages.
As TH received an email response from Ruth Gibbons on the 26th February, which was after the Judges Committee meeting, any points raised in the email were not discussed at the Judges Committee meeting. The next Judges Committee meeting is scheduled for 21st April. TH to present the Judges Committee decision re funding to the TC meeting on 5th March. Other
Judges Committee will produce a judges newsletter to get information out to the judging Community. Plan to have 3 newsletters per year.
Panels for QC#1 NL 6-10 completed. Full panels for all levels.
Heidi Rose selected by GA as Australian judge for competition in Jesolo, Italy in March.

March 2015
1. Floor Managers course (Sunday 22nd of February) o 13 participants (8 MAG/WAG, 5 RG) o Great questions and feedback from participants o GWA to contact participants prior to competitions to shadow experienced floor
managers
2. WAG NL 6-‐10 QC #1 (March 14 & 15) o Minor issues with finding floor managers for a couple of sessions o BB to organize music playlist on iTunes and VLC for first competition – HR has
emailed clubs information on how to send music through. Once music has been submitted, the same music will be used for future QC competitions so clubs will only need to resend music if a gymnast changes songs or an athlete was not entered into a prior competition. BB will retain master copy of music.
Upcoming Events
• WAG NL 6-‐10 QC #1 (March 14 & 15) o Playlist to be set up by BB
• WAG Elite QC #1 (GTC) (March 28) o WAG TC run

Business Arising From Previous Minutes
1) Club have been emailed regarding their provisional numbers for WAG Winter Foundation Festival. Once numbers are known, they will be passed on to the TC to assist with planning for the event.
GWA Board Meeting Minutes (January) 4.2 Matters Arising/Action Summary The Action Summary from the November 2014 Board Meeting was tabled. The GWA Board noted;
• Gymnova had supplied further information for the GWA Board to make further financial decisions in regards to the purchase of equipment.
• WA PCYC has been in further contact with GWA on becoming a member in 2015. The GWA staff is meeting with WA PCYC in the following week in regards to Affiliation and RPL of coaches.
o The GWA Board agreed with the planned RPL process tabled at the meeting and thanked GA for their support to assist with the RPL process.
5.1 SGC Equipment Upgrade: The equipment list and €uro cost per item were tabled. The GWA Board agreed to the following;
• A decision needs to be made as soon as possible in order to have the equipment in place by deadline dates set by Gymnova for the best possible price and for arrival prior to State Championships.
• It was agreed that the finance sub-committee would meet next week to finalise the best option for GWA and then to finalise the order/method of payment.
• RG to contact the WAG and MAG Judges Assembly on behalf of the GWA Board on if they would be willing to support the upgrade with financial assistance with the equipment.
• Clubs could share the GWA containers if required. It was also noted also that Gymnova were keen to meet clubs at the Autumn State Championships for further equipment purchases.
WAG TC_March_Gymsport Section Report
7.2 State Team Funding: Team Management and Sport Medics The GWA Board noted the Gymsports Section have investigated what the impact will be on increasing the state team management levies to allow for this inclusion and this is outlined below:
• Calculations were done to show the impact on the Team Management Levy for each travelling group if the Team Manager were fully-funded
• With the exception of the WAG team, who were already at the maximum limit set for the levy and therefore had no way of remaining under it, the other teams all remained under the $300 limit for the Team Management Levy.
The GWA Board agreed to the following;
• Agreed to the principle of funding Team Managers and Medical staff,. • In 2015, only Team Managers would be fully funded (not including uniform) • Research in utilising the services from University graduates from physio courses should be investigated as potential
sports medics in 2016 7.3 State Team Funding: Funding of judges to Australian Championship The GWA Board noted during 2015 at the Gymsports and Judging Coordinator’s Meetings discussion occurred regarding the opportunity to be able to stagger the amount of funding judges received for attending Australian Championships. The smaller sports are finding it increasingly difficult to raise sufficient funds from their Judges Invitational Events to support the short fall of judge education and support travel to Australian Championships. The request to the GWA board is to allow each Gymsport Judging Coordinator in conjunction with the Technical Committee to develop the criteria for staggered funding. This would allow for support of more judges being selected to attend the event to receive some sort of funding without depleting the funds in each of the Gymsports Judging Assembly accounts. The GWA Board agreed with the request for each gymsport to stagger funding amount for 2015 if required. This amount can be up to $700 per judge. 8.1 GWA Event Policy The GWA Event Policy and document of changes were tabled. The GWA Board noted that the updated Judging Fining System for 2015 has not been implemented in the policy at this stage due to the following;
• The likelihood that the fining system developed will not fit with the implementation of the requirements of the CRM when the system is rolled out in 2015.
• With the introduction of the WAG ALP all WAG judges are required to reaccredit and judging courses are scheduled post competition entry deadline for the first WAG qualification event.
• Several judging courses have been scheduled for the first half of 2015 in particular January to May so by giving clubs the opportunity to encourage existing judges to reaccredit, will allow for more judges to be available for competitions across the Gymsports.
• The initiatives from Services and Development are still to be rolled out to clubs regarding judge engagement and recruitment. Having an extra time for this initiative to be rolled out will assist clubs in attracting their members to become involved in the judging aspect of gymnastics.
9.1.1 Judge Succession Plan The Judge Succession Plan will be tabled at the March Board Meeting. Strategies will be look at the following:
• Recruitment and Retention Plans for Clubs • Technical Committee Initiatives • GWA Initiatives
GWA would like to implement the following strategies:
• New beginner judges (who are parents), one of their athlete members receive free entry into GWA Calendar Events for the calendar year.
• GWA to further subsidise all Beginner and Intermediate Judging Courses, so no courses are cancelled unless there is no applicants. This is important for RG, ACR and AER who have smaller communities. WAG, MAG and TRP continue to have more than 6 applications for Beginner and Intermediate Judging Courses.
• Clubs to have the opportunity to host a Beginner Judging Course at their club for their members. The club would have to have a min number of applicants (6) or cover the cost of the current course costs. GWA to employ the presenters.
The GWA Board agreed to the above initiatives from GWA. The GWA Board noted the process for the initiatives still need to be finalised. WAG TC_March_Gymsport Section Report
