National Latin ExamFriday, March 14

Every year, over 150,000 students from middle school to collegeparticipate in the National Latin exam. Founded by the AmericanClassical League at Georgetown University in 1976, the NationalLatin exam is given all over North America, as well as incountries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia. On March 14, twenty one of Ms. Glatter's students participatedin this exam testing their knowledge of Latin grammar,comprehension, mythology, literature, history, geography, andRoman life. In past years students have garnered ribbons andcertificates for their results on the Introduction to Latin and Latin Iexams; this year they are hoping to win a silver or gold medal!

The Grammy award­winning Pacific Boychoir Academypresents The Sound of Vienna, a concert of choral music fromthe Classical era, sung with the unique and rich sound of menand boys, accompanied by orchestra. Works typically performedby the likes of the Vienna Philharmonic and Vienna Boys Choirwill be presented in rare form, here in the United States. Haydn'sMissa Sancti Bernardi von Offida (Heiligmesse) and Mozart's TeDeum will be sung in their entirety. Also enjoy Beethoven'sChoral Fantasy, and Schubert's Ständchen for alto solo andfour­part men's voices. Fresh from the January 31 collaboration at the Fox Theater, TheMagik*Magik Orchestra joins PBA to show off their classicaltraining. Pianist Miles Graber accompanies the choir for someBeethoven, Schubert, and Strauß. Tickets are now available online!

UnderCover is a quarterly project that selects an influentialalbum to be reinterpreted by an eclectic mix of local musicians,with each song arranged by different composers using a varietyof instrumentations. Paul Simon's Graceland will be the 9thshowcase from this collaborative series, will include JohnVanderslice and Diana Gameros, and will feature guestconductor Robert Shelton.
