INTRODUCTIONINTRODUCTIONINTRODUCTIONINTRODUCTION
The AAPG Miskolc Student Chapter was formed on 11 January 2010. It has now been
active almost two years. In this time period we organized several field trips and lectures. The
chapter currently counts 28 members. It means the number of the members expanded with
eight people over one year. Among the members of the chapter there are both BSc and Msc
students in several fields of earth sciences such as geology, hydrogeology, petroleum
engineering and mining engineering. We have an executive committee meeting every month
followed by a chapter meeting. The members of the executive committee are the following:
• President: Balázs Czeglédi, Msc student, Geological and Geophysical Engineer,
E-mail: [email protected]
• Vice-president: Nádasi Endre, MSc student, Geological and Geophysical Engineer,
E-mail: [email protected]
• Secretary: István Hajdú , Msc student, Geological and Geophysical Engineer,
E-mail: [email protected]
• Treasurer: Anett Kiss, Geological and Geophysical Engineer,
E-mail: [email protected]
• Past-President: Marcell Lux , Hydrogeologist,

During the week of the carnival the AAPG Miskolc
SC took its regular meeting with some lectures held by
students of the Faculty. These are the followings:
• Endre Nádasi took a lecture about his Bsc thesis
wich is about the existence of thermochemical sulphate
reduction (TSR) in the Makó Trough, Hungary. During his
micro-mineralogical work He was searching for the marks of
TSR, and trying to decide if this process has been taken place
in the trench.
• Bence Papp talked about his Bsc thesis as well. He
made investigations about well penetration and gave some
new directions towards more efficient usage of the present
technologies.
• Anett Kiss presented her new results of her
laboratory research, which was about the compressibility
of different sandstones.

Connected to the regular meeting of our SC we organized a small lecture series. The
presenterswere the followings:
• Anett Kiss talked about her recent study, the imaging technologies and their
applications in well loggings.
• Dávid Holló made a case study about the role of elastic impedance in geophysical
determination of reservoir parameters. He presented his results on this event.

In regard of the reinforcement of the IBA's culture in Miskolc, the previous teams and
the professors of the Miskolc University gave birth of this two-weeks course. The training
consisted three types of lectures:
General petroleum geology; exercises from sequence stratigraphy of siliciclastic
deposits and probabilistic computations (by Balázs Czeglédi)
Introduction of the Petromod software (by Anett Kiss)
Introduction of IHS KINGDOM integrated hydrocarbon exploration software pacd

We hope that, we could help for the next team to prepare for the IBA 2013 in
advaourse, we will support them during the competition, as well.
