NUTRITIONThe function of nutrition is essential to life. Nutrients
give our cells all the energy they need. The digestive system, the respiratory system, the excretory system and the circulatory system carry out the function of nutrition.
THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM It has two parts: The digestive tract: mouth, pharynx, oesophagus, stomach, small intestine and large intestine. The digestive glands: salivary glands, liver and pancreas.
THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEMThe respiratory sistem is in charge of breathing.First, we inhale air and it goes into to the lungsThen, we exhale air sending it out of the lungs.Parts: nostrils, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, lungs, diaphragm, and alveoli.
THE EXCRETORY SYSTEM The excretory system filters waste substances from the blood. It removes them from the body through excretion. It is made up of:Sweat glands: in the skin. They produce sweat.Urinary system:this is made up of the kidneys and the urinary tract.
THE URINARY SYSTEMParts: kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra.
THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEMThe circulatory system transports nutrients and oxygen to our cells. It is made up of the heart, blood, blood vessels.
The parts of blood vessels:CapillariesArteriesveins
THE BLOOD Blood is a red liquid tissue made up of cells that float in a liquid called plasma. There are three types of blood cells:
red blood cells white blood cells platelets
THE HEARTThe heart uses rhythmic systole and diastole movements to pump the blood around the body.
1. Blood enters the atria through the veins.
2. Passes to the ventricles.
3. Blood comes out of the ventricles, through the arteries.
4. Travels all over the body.
HUMAN CIRCULATION Human circulation is closed and double.
