TURN
Turn in humble repentance from every sin God reveals
to us and turn to God to seek His help in living our
lives for Him.
Repentance is a good thing
No it’s a GREAT thing!
Without it we would never be able to find eternal salvation in
Jesus.
And after we have become followers of Jesus repentance
is the only way to stay in a close fellowship with Him.
like taking a bath.
When we are cleansed by repentance it allows us to come
to Jesus with no barriers.
Ps 16:11 You have made known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal
pleasures at your right hand.
2 Peter 1:3-4 His divine power has given us
everything we need for life and godliness through our
knowledge of Him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through
these he has given us his very great and precious
promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world
caused by evil desires.
Why is repentance needed?
Isaiah 59:1-2- Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities
have separated you from your God; your sins have
hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.
6 conditions for restoration of our relationship with God in 2
Chronicles 7:14:
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble
themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their
wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their
land.”
-Salvation (If MY people)-External evidence through Christ-like behavior (who are called by My name-Genuine humility (will humble themselves)
-Earnest prayer (and pray)-An intense search for the heart of God (and seek My face)-Repentance (and turn from their wicked ways)
THEN God will:
Hear the pleasure of our hearts.
1 John 5:14-15- “This is the confidence we have in
approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we
know that he hears us--whatever we ask--we know
that we have what we asked of him.”
Forgive our sins
1 John 1:9- “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all
unrighteousness.”
-Heal our land.
The problem with our land is a heart sickness problem.
So when the Spirit shows us that there is sin in our lives there are two ways we can
respond:
Acknowledge our sins.
Psalm 51 – David didn’t argue or blame others; he
admitted his sin, acknowledging the gap
between where he was and where he should be.
Be blinded by our pride.
Mark 10- rich young ruler – Christ raised the standard of
the law to try to get him to see his sin, but he was too blinded by his pride. “All these things I have done
from my youth up.”
What about you?
-Invite the Holy Spirit to show you anything in your life that is out of line with God’s purposes for you.
Pray with me: Lord, forgive me of any sin
in my life so I can fellowship freely with You.
Revive me.
Help me to think like Jesus thought so I can live like He
lived.
Give me the desire to think on things that are pure and noble and reject thinking on things
that are not.
Renew my mind so I can be transformed into the image of Jesus and not conformed to
the image of this world.
Work IN me and THROUGH me to change my world!
Help me to live as a servant of the king and may all I do be for
the glory of the name of King Jesus.
