years Shelley Rauws, father and mother-in-law Dave and Bernie Thompson ofLethbridge; siblings Tom Rauws, Anne (John) Devries, Rita (Henk) Byma, Irene(Case) Zylstra and Earl (Carol) Rauws all of Ontario; his three children Ashely andAnthony Rauws of Calgary, Ayrica Rauws of Ontario as well as numerous nieces,nephews, great nieces and great nephews.The family feels great comfort in knowing Merve has been met at heaven’s door

by his parents Antonie and Jozina Rauws, sister-in-law Leslie Rauws who was verydear to his heart, plus other friends he’s said farewell to along the way includinghis favorite buddy, his cat Kramer.Since a very early age, Merve has had a passion and love for cooking. He movedto Edmonton in the spring of 1982 and started his apprenticeship in 1983 at theWestin Hotel. While cooking at a variety of hotels, Merve was fortunate enough tobe able to meet a variety of celebrities including Red Skelton, Kelsey Grammer,Princess Diana, the Queen Mother, Rex Ryan and Richard Saunders to name a few.He received his Red Seal in 1986.Merve’s reputation meant everything to him. He worked alot of hours in the

kitchen either at the Taber Curling Club, his catering business Catering by Merveor at his restaurant Driller’s Grill. You could tell he loved cooking when you enteredany of these places and you could hear him singing or whistling a song. Merve’sbody may have given up the fight, but he never did! He will be dearly missed byall that knew him.

ALEXANDER ROBERT "BOB" ALEXANDER,beloved husband of Phyl l is ofLethbridge, passed away after a longbattle with Alzheimers on Monday,December 21, 2015 at the age of 83years. Besides his loving wife, he is lovinglyremembered by his four daughters;Pat Skelly of Lethbridge, Heather(Terry) Bailey of Ponoka, Beth(Randy) Quan of Lethbridge andDonna Edhart of Edmonton; 10grandchi ldren Rober t (Nico le)Sakamoto, Shae-Lynn Sakamoto,Liam Skel ly, Brandon and Kyle(Kat ie ) Ba i ley , A lyc ia (Co l in )Poffenroth, Scott (Stephanie) Quan,Bree Quan (Ashley Thomas), Craigand Jared Edhart as well as onegreat-granddaughter Scotlyn Bailey.

He is also survived by one sister Dorothy MacDonald of New Westminster,B.C., as well as two sisters in law of Lethbridge, Sadie (Doug) McCarthyand Cathie (Jim) McGinty, as well as numerous nieces and nephews andextended family and friends in Canada and Scotland. He waspredeceased by his parents James and Margaret and one brother George. Bob was born on May 19, 1932 in Edinburgh, Scotland and immigrated toCanada when he was 24 years old. His future wife followed him and theywere married in the Yukon February 12, 1958. Together, they began theirfamily and later moved to Lethbridge in 1961. Bob enjoyed playing golfand Bridge. He had a good sense of humor and loved to joke around. Boband Phyllis spent time traveling, and their favorite places were Hawaii andCoeur d'Alene. Thank you to Dr. Xander Van Der Pol, Dr. Joel Weaver, Dr. Sailendra, Dr.Malpica, Dr. Smuts, staff at the Good Samaritans Park Meadows, staff ofV.O.N., homecare nurse Laura Hoar and the staff at the Chinook RegionalHospital on 4C, as well as Father Lukas and Father Alphonse. At Bob's request, a Private Family Service will be held. Cremation entrusted to Cornerstone Funeral Home. BLACKADDER MRS. LYNN BLACKADDER (neeBaker) of Lethbridge, AB, passedaway suddenly, 19 December2015 at the age of 57 years. Lynn was born February 06 1958in Scarborough, ON to James andEdna Baker (both deceased). Sheleaves to cherish her memory herhusband, Bruce, two daughters,Shannon Blackadder (WadeDoucette) and Michele (Chris)Meyers and one son, MatthewBlackadder. Additionally, she issurvived by her father-in-law,Robert, five siblings: Loni, Lori,Grant, Garth and Glenn, and threegrandchildren; Nicole, Jayden andConnor. Lynn began a nursing career in1981 af ter graduat ing f romRyerson Polytechnical Institute;she worked in a variety of fieldsincluding: labour and delivery,home nursing, the operating room,and service in the CanadianArmed Forces as a NursingOfficer from 1988 to 1995. Hercareer ended working in theoperating room at the Chinook(Lethbridge) Regional Hospital. Lynn lived life to the fullest. Shehad many passions including: birdwatching and singing with theSouthern Accords and VocalMotion Choruses, but her greatestinterest was combining heramazing photography skills withall of her pursuits. Always up for anew adventure, she recently tookup motorcycling and scuba divingand was looking forward totravelling and seeing more of theworld. Her greatest love however,was for people: her family, forwhom no effort was too great; aswell as those with whom sheworked and sang with. A memorial service will be held inthe new year at the LethbridgeSalvation Army Church on 13thStreet, Lethbridge with date andtimings to be announced. In lieu of flowers, friends who wishto donate please do so to theC a n a d i a n H e a r t & S t r o k eFoundation or the CanadianDiabetes Associat ion.

Hazel Simanton of Bow Island,AB, beloved wife of the lateEdward C. Simanton, passedaway on Friday, December 18,2015 at Bow Island Long TermCare – Bow Island Hospital at theage of 100 years. Hazel was born in Rimby onDecember 16, 1915. She marriedEd at the Kenny Farm in Rimby onDecember 25, 1933 and moveddirectly to the Foremost areawhere they farmed and raisedtheir family. Before moving toForemost, where they retired, in1995, they moved to PleasantView Lodge in Bow Island. Momspent her later years in BowIsland Hospital Long Term Careuntil her passing. Mom enjoyedher flowers for as long as herhealth allowed. Hazel is surv ived by herd a u g h t e r S h i r l e y W a l t e r s(Richard) and family; sons RonSimanton (Sarah) and family, BobSimanton (Edie) and family, VernSimanton (Val) and Family andRay Simanton (Ann) and family;s is ters Helen Cooke (Bob),Dasey Stuart (Darrel), PheobeSmithson (sister-in-law); andbrothers-in-law Bob Crasewall andAndy Gilespie. She is predeceased by herparents Richard and Nazara, Sixbrothers; Nazem, George, Sam,Joe, Bill and Alfred, and twosisters; Marie and Hannah. Margy was born in Swift Current,SK, on May 17, 1916. Shecompleted her education as anaccoun tan t i n Reg ina andWinnipeg. Margy moved toLethbridge in 1974 to work withher brothers at Kirk's Tire until herretirement in 1982. She was acaring giving person who enjoyedspending time with her family.Margy was very generous of hertime always giving of herself toothers. At Margy's request, no formalfuneral service will be held. She will be laid to rest in herhusband's plot in Mountain ViewCemetery. In memory of Margy, memorialdonations may be made to acharity of one's choice.
