Tú Command Foldable
Use the information on the following slides to complete the foldable for your notes.Some of this information should be familiar because you learned some of this information last year.

tell someone to do something
Use the 3rd person singular of the verb
(él, ella, usted form)
Cantar = Canta

Attach pronouns to the end of the command form.
You may need to add an accent mark (on the next to the last syllable of the original command form)

Negative: Regular FormsUse a negative command when you want to
tell someone NOT to do something
Use the “tú” form of the subjunctive.
Cantar = No cantes
Beber = No bebas
Escribir = No escribas
The subjunctive is another set of verb tenses. We will learn how to form this tense after we
finish the foldable.

Ir = No vayas
Ser = No seas
[Note that none of these have
“yo” forms that end in “o”]
Negative: Pronoun Placement
With negative commands, the pronoun comes before the verb.
No la cantes
No lo bebas
No te levantes
You will learn more about how to use the subjunctive tense next year in Spanish 3. But for now you need to know how to form it to make negative “tú” commands.
