17 October 2016 COMMERCIAL IN CONFIDENCE © FIT4DUTY PTY LTD 2016
• Fit4Duty and its siblings deal with 3000 organisations in Australia
• 370 testing clients
• 40,000 testing encounters last year
• Model used in most clients (we try to educate and support!)
• Typical approach:• Got someone who we think uses• Can you come out next week and test?• How to I terminate employment?
Workforce Participation
• The Gap:• Participation for Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islanders peaks at 20-24 with 60% participation (maybe)
• Non-indigenous participation peaks around 85%
• Obligation for Safety
• 42% of people over 14 have “used” at some point
• 17.5% of working people “used” last month
• Enforcement approach can result in unnecessary targeting of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

Let’s talk about respect!• Consultation and Communications is key
• Take the time to achieve agreement
• Testing is widely seen as an invasion of privacy justified only by obligations for safety
• Inclusion of worker groups in developing strategy
• External provider?

Education• Can’t be “preachers”
• Genuine lack of real understanding (so knowledge share is important)
• Awareness of numeracy and literacy (familiarity with charts?)
• Opportunity to emphasise care (RUOK?)
• Mutual Obligation and Support (vertically and laterally)
• Consider involving elders
