The templates for the TiOLi website should ideally consist of four (3) primary colors and should always be used as the main palette. The range of colors on either side of these main colors, labeled secondary colors, are also suitable for web usage. Supportive colors are for body text, certain headings and may be used freely around the site.

Content Management System
Overview
The template and content management system should be designed to help TiOLi control the website to create a consistent online presence and presentation. It should facilitate the linking/uploading of images, text (copy), video, documents and similar preferably utilizing hosting of large content like video on third party sites like YouTube and slide share.
Site structure should be conducive to and facilitate SEO.
Word Press is an open source, web content management system, designed to easily update websites for governments, businesses and other similar organisations. Because of it’s open licensing, it is our understanding that the entire system is fully customizable including elements such as the look and feel of the admin panel.
We require a CMS which is designed for and accommodates flexible development of a websites architecture (allowing creation of new menu items and submenus) as content requirements grow. It should also contain fundamentals such as security models, payment gateway enablement, caching, and social networking plugin support.
Templates & Visual Identity
Templates/Themes:Templates should be setup as page types that define what the page will look like and where content is placed. The TiOLi team will need to manage all site templates and content post go live.
Sub-templates:When creating a new template, it must be considered how different the page will be compared to the default page. If there is a lot of identical code, then it may be better to create a sub-template and to specify which part of the template has changed.
Modules/Widgets:Modules and widgets may also be required to expand the site. Modules to control wider parts of the site and help with site management. Widgets on the other hand may be used for, sidebar apps such as the Facebook ‘Like box’ plugin etc.
Fonts:HTML fonts and layout are controlled by a common style sheet (common.css).
Navigation/Information Architecture
Top Level Navigation: link to main sections of the website.
Breadcrumbs should show the site visitor where they are within the structure of the entire website, similar to a folder path and starts with the home page and allows the site visitor to easily navigate to the landing of the section they are in or the TiOLi home page. This will be especially useful when a user arrives on a page deep within the site architecture and can easily identify in which section they are in.
Navigation links to core areas of the site, or other websites will need to cater for at least three (3) levels of navigation.
Footer Navigation: the footer navigation should display links that are not as important as the top level navigation, but are provided so that users can access certain sections of the website quickly when landing on any page. Except for the home page, if possible the footer should be set to ‘position : float’ in the style sheet, enhancing the accessibility to the footer during the browsing session.
Use linked text rather than actual URLS. Do not underline the link. Example: Read the TOW News newsletter Not Read the news at: http://www.openwindow.co.za/news
