There is a lack of high skilled workers in the UK, this is because not enough people are learning high level technical

skills alongside academic skills. The TechBacc (Technical Baccalaureate) is the solution. A new, professional and

different way to learn, ensuring you gain the right combination of skills to get you into employment.

Students will follow:

Tech-Level double award (equivalent to 2 A levels): ‘Design Engineering and Materials Technology’

Level 3 Core Maths

EPQ: Extended Project Qualification with an Industry focus

Extended work placement

How will it help my career plans?

You will be able to link your skills and knowledge

developed in each unit to industry and local

employers. There will also be work experience

placement opportunities. All this will make you stand

out when applying for apprenticeships and jobs. The

course prepares students for work across the

Engineering, Construction and Manufacturing sectors.

Why Develop Maths Skills ?

Good numeracy skills at a level above GCSE are

sought after by employers and will increase your

earning potential and career progression. You will be

able to access a much wider range of careers and

professions.

What are the entry requirements?

A minimum of 4 GCSE subjects at Grade 4 including

English (Lit or Lang) and Maths at Grade 4. It is

desirable that the applicant has a grade 4 or above or

equivalent in a GCSE Technology subject or Level 2

Merits in BTEC Construction or Engineering.

The TechBacc is ideal for ambitious, talented students who

want to pursue a technology-based career.
