In the Barbouta area there is an oldsynagogue. It was built in the middle of the16th century when the Jews from the Spaincame to Veria. Its decoration was inspired bythe Spanish tradition and culture.

It is one of the oldest synagogues in Greece. Itwas restored in the 1990’.

Today the Synagogue is closed. It is plannedto be a museum.
