THE NEW STANDARD FOR HEAVY LIFTING IN CONFINED SPACES

MAMMOET FOCUS
The Mammoet Focus is a high capacity pedestal crane that can work in confined
areas with limited ground bearing pressure. Because it can be assembled vertically,
safety risks involved with crane assembly over live structures are eliminated.
Its strength and unique technical features enable greater efficiency in upgrade and
turnaround projects as well as inner city civil works.

The Mammoet Focus is the ideal lifting machine for use in areas with complex infrastructure and space limitations, such as plants and inner cities. It has the capacity, versatility and reach to work in and around different layouts and requires a minimum amount of space for assembly and operation. Its small footprint helps optimize the plant layout of brownfield projects.
On the same token, when greenfield projects are designed, the plant layout has to take limitations into account that may exist because of crane capabilities. Conventional cranes take up more space and need laydown areas for assembly. The Focus eliminates such constraints and allows more flexibility in plant design and unlock new efficiencies in construction plans.
Mammoet recognized that crane capabilities in these industries can significantly increase a project’s efficiency. However, conventional crane assembly principles do not always contribute to efficiency as much as needed. In order to meet the current and future demands of projects, Mammoet has redefined the principles of crane design and assembly with a new type of heavy lifter: The Mammoet Focus.
As large industrial facilities expand over time, they become more complex and crowded. Similarly, as cities around the world keep growing, they are becoming more congested and require new infrastructure. At the same time, the existing infrastructure requires renewal. These trends make upgrade,

maintenance and turnaround projects logistically challenging as the space to maneuver oversized objects and heavy equipment significantly decreases. In all cases expansion and maintenance works need to be executed with as little disturbance as possible and minimum use of available space.
We understand when it comes to cranes their added value is not limited to capacity. The Focus is a heavy duty crane that can be erected vertically and maneuvered with flexibility, making it ideal for efficient and safe project execution in limited and congested spaces. The design includes a variable superlift system. This increases the crane’s flexibility and delivers a larger operational window, particularly in congested areas.
The Focus can be assembled on the
smallest area possible due to its ability to be
built up vertically.

The Mammoet Focus offers the following advantages:
The pedestal, together with the
large foot section base, create
stability and realize low ground
bearing pressure of as little as
10 Te/m2.

At Mammoet, we provide solutions for lifting,
transporting, installing and decommissioning
large and heavy structures.
We could talk for hours about the equipment we use,
and about how sophisticated and powerful it is.
But all that power means nothing without a plan.
In fact, we believe our business isn’t about size.
It’s about: time.
Uptime. Turnaround time. Time to market. To our
customers, time is the currency that matters most.
That’s why we strive to bring their deadlines forward.
It’s an integrated, daily effort shared by everyone
at Mammoet.
That’s how we move time for our customers.
So time isn’t set in concrete. Or forged in steel.
It’s not even all that heavy.
And yet, it’s the biggest thing we can move for you.

THE BIGGEST THING WE MOVE
IS TIME

The variable superlift system
provides a flexible superlift
radius during lift operations. This
increases the flexibility on site,
particularly in congested sites.

The Focus is designed as a series
of cranes with lifting capacities
ranging from 600 metric tons up
to 5,000 metric tons.
LIFTING CAPACITY 3
No other crane can be assembled on a
small area like the Focus. This contributes
significantly to safety and efficiency
during the assembly phase. Among other
advantages, it is no longer necessary
to lift crane elements over live parts of
a plant, such as pipe racks. Multiple
innovations and improvements have
made this possible:
a. main boom mast sections are provided
with a guiding system, which allows
vertical movements during mast
build-up
b. specific mast head enables hoisting
or lowering of back mast during crane
erection or disassembly
c. feed system on upper structure allows
safe and convenient insert of mast
sections
d. erection frame allows stable vertical
mast erection, based on proved
methodology for tower cranes. Boom
stop cylinders, integrated in the support
brace of the erection frame, keep the
main boom mast sections vertical and
stable
1 SMALL ASSEMBLY AREA
The Focus is a vertically self-erecting
crane. It can be built vertically up to a
height of 150 meters on an extremely
small surface of 22 x 22 meters without
compromising stability and strength. The
result is a high capacity crane that can be
assembled on the smallest area possible,
making it ideal for use in confined spaces.
The only auxiliary lifting capacity needed
is a small hydraulic crane to lift the
sections into place.
