All 8th grade students MUST score at least 800 on the Math and 800 on the Reading sections of the Criterion Referenced Competency Test (CRCT)

Criterion referenced tests measure student acquisition of the skills and knowledge described in the QCC. The assessments will yield information on academic achievement at the student, class, school, system, and state levels. (Examples: CRCT, GHSGT)
•The scale scores for the Georgia CRCT ranges from scores of 650-950.
•800 and 850 serve as the performance cuts. (Below 800 is “Does Not Meet” standards and Above 850 is" Exceeds” Standards).

• Review last year’s test scores with your child. They were given to the students at the beginning of the school term.
• Target areas that your child did not score on grade level (Remember: 800 or above is “on grade level” in math), 800,reading.
• If your child is below grade level in reading or math the following resources are available:

• Power Reading (Students must score below 800 on the CRCT in Reading)
• Math Tools (Students must score below 800 in Math on the CRCT)
(These courses are taken as connections classes)
• Supplemental Tutorial Services (Free tutorial services; Saturday School to be held at Lithonia Middle School.
• After school Tutorial (Held at Lithonia Middle-Date TBA)
Georgia Academic Placementand Promotion Policy
Beginning the 2005-2006 school year,
8th grade students must achieve a score of 800 or higher on the
Criterion-Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) in
Math and 800 or above in reading
in order to be promoted.
