Cable TV isn't the only placeto watch cooking or mixologyshows anymore. Sites on theinternet such as the SmallScreen Network now makethem easily accessible. SmallScreen airs shows on bar basics,bartending, mixology and foodpairing. lt is also home to KathyCasey's Liquid Kitchen.

Casey is referred to as a celebrity chef, mixologist andentertaining expert. She uses her internet platform toteach others the skills and recipes that she has acquiredover the years. "l hooked up with Small Screen a fewyears ago as I was really intrigued with their platform ofniche broadcasting," says Casey. "Their shows focus is oncocktail culture and are hosted by industry front-rUnners.Shows are engaging, entertaining and informational andappeal to a wide variety of viewers including industryprofessionals, cooks and home bar enthusiasts tococktail geeks." She added that Small Screen also plansto add a food channel in the near future.

Although, her show deals mostly with mixology, herbackground is in the culinary field. 'As a chef, I starteddabbling behind the bar when not much was going onand it was my goal to bring the kitchen into the bar,utilizing fresh seasonal ingredients including herbs andunique ingredients and focusing on balanced flavors.,,

Her culinary career began at a very young age. "lmoved out really early and so had to find a job. I washired as a cook for a convent at the age of 15," Sheenrolled in a culinary program in college and workedher way up the kitchen ranks to become one of thefirst young female executive chefs in the country. ,,1

enjoyed a good cocktail - and loved to experiment - sothe bar was a natural transition for me. At the time, itwas also one of the areas of restaurants and hotels thatwas not focused on." She started using the ingredientsaround her to make her own house-made infusions. ,,lt

has been so great to see the proliferation and interestin creativity in the bar and the rediscovery of the craftof the cocktail."

Her restaurant development gave her the backgroundto create specific cocktail menus to pair along with thefood menus she was creating. "l started the beveragearm of my business Kathy Casey's Liquid Kitchen topair my passion behind the bar with my experlence asa chef." King Cocktal, Dale DeGroff refers to her as thefirst Bar Chef. "On my show, I share my knowledge andexperiences with kitchen inspired cocktails along with afew appetizers."

Liquid Kitchen is currently airing its third season andCasey says that it is chock-full of recipes that will comein handy for any occasion. "My Gin with House-MadeBitter Lemon uses an interesting method to make thebitter lemon syrup. I blend whole lemons with theirpeels, sugar and water in my Vitamix blender then bringit to a boil and let steep before straining. The result is afantastic DIY cocktail ingredient." She mixes it with 9inand soda water. "For a definite crowd pleaser, try myrecipe for Solera Sherry Punch - which would be greatto serve for a party. Sherry and rum mingle with freshpineapple and lemon juices with a touch of orgeat syrupand black walnut bitters to round the flavors. Warm upto my Maple Bourbon Old Fashioned (bourbon and realmaple syrup with a touch of Bitter Truth creole andorange bitters),"

You may have already guessed that Casey is verypassionate about mixology and about helping novicesand seasoned bar professionals alike, learn the art of themixed drink. She's also passionate about the networkthat allows her to ply her trade. "Small Screen Networkis a great place to learn from the best.
