Gooloogong Progress & Promotion Association off and racing! After a very successful public meeting, loads of people came back for an initial meeting in March, at which time we decided we had enough enthuasiam and man power to form a committee The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 22 April (and proposed for the 4th Wed of every second month), 7.30pm at the War Memorial Hall. At this meeting a committee will be formed including a call from people interested in holding committee positions and the formalisities of forming the association. Some of the topics currently on the agenda are: mobile phone and internet service, and the bridge naming. Come along and be part of it!
The newly formed Progress and Promotion Association is coordinating a competition to name our new bridge. The association will then work with Government to make it official!
There is a box at the Gooloogong Handy Mart to drop your Bridge Name ideas in, just remember to also include your name and contact number.
Ron Hay, owner of the Gooloogong Hotel has kindly donated $100 first prize to the person whose Bridge Name is chosen!
We need your ideas in by Tuesday 21 April.
Anglican Church Services will be held at the Anglican Church, Boller Street, Eugowra on Good Friday at 8.00 am and Holy Saturday at 5.00 pm. All

Landcare news
In February some of our Landcare members tagged along with the Cowra Woodlands Bird Group as they did their Summer Surveys for this year. The Cowra Group has been going for 15 years and record at 85 sites around the Cowra area! They survey on both public and private land and in many different types of country. The volunteers come from all over the place – Sydney, Canberra and further afield and join the locals in Cowra for the weekend. Small teams are allocated 3 or 4 sites to be surveyed each day. They are so good at it! Mostly they identify birds by their calls. Julie, who I went with, just listens and says “Oh…a striated pardalote…no, two…no,three.”! Then patiently tries to point them out to me while I struggle to focus the binoculars! It was a learning experience and congratulations to Jo who did both days! Bird Surveys are a great way to evaluate the health of an area. Kangarooby Landcare will choose some sites around Gooloogong as one way to monitor the revegetation projects as they develop. The plantings at the Gooloogong Country Club will be one place. If anyone else is interested in having surveys done please get in touch. Thank you to Vera and Les Reid for hosting last month’s meeting. Thank you for the lovely walk along your part of the river and back past the gorgeous black faced lambs. The meeting finished just as the rain poured down, though it all dried up again very quickly with nothing much to show for it. Great to have a couple of new Landcare members come along to the meeting. Welcome to Rebecca and to Stuart and hope you enjoy getting involved. An Expression of Interest form has been sent out to members about Direct Seeding projects this autumn. Please have a think about it and get back to Tracee. Next meeting will be 8th April just after Easter. For more information ring Tracee on 63448207 or Ruth on 63448256. Photos Double-barred Finches. Their call is like a short electric buzz!
