BENEDICTION POSTLUDE “Toccota from ‘Suite Gothique’” Boëllman MARK 11:1-10 (NIV) “As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples, saying to them, ‘Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, “Why are you doing this?” say, “The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.”’ They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it, some people standing there asked, ‘What are you doing, untying that colt?’ They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go. When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it. Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted, ‘Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest heaven!’”

CALL TO WORSHIP: L: Hosanna to the Son of David, the King of Israel. P: Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest! L: This day he entered the holy city of Jerusalem and was proclaimed king by those who spread their garments and palm branches along his way. P: Let these branches be for us signs of his victory; and grant that we who bear them may always acclaim Jesus Messiah by walking in his ways. L: May we trust in his death and rising which provides, for all, the way of entry into your eternal kingdom. P: Through Jesus Christ who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.
HYMN “Hosanna, Loud Hosanna” No. 297
PALM SUNDAY RESPONSIVE PRAYER: L: Lord God, today we wave our palm branches, cry for help, and lay the green leaves on the dusty ground P: in hopes that our prayers will reach your ears. L: Save us, God, from our greed, our arrogance, our selfishness; from our ignorance, our apathy, our complicity.
5
P: Save us, God, from sickness and abuse; from people who would have us be someone other than ourselves. L: Following Jesus calls us to sacrifice and yield; sit still and explore; forgive and love. P: So we ask you, and we ask each other, for help, for companionship, for love. L: Will you enliven us to help each other? To share the bread and the cup not only with our loved ones but with our enemies, too? P: Lord, help us to be your hands and feet this Holy Week. L: Let us now pray together the prayer our Lord taught us: P: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

LAST DAY TO PURCHASE EASTER LILIES
Easter lilies may be ordered TODAY in Souers Hall between services. The cost of a lily is $10.00 and will need to be paid at the time of placing order. The lilies will be displayed on Easter Sunday in the Sanctuary. You will be able to take your lily home after the 10:45 a.m. service on Easter. For more information contact the church office at (623) 935-3411.
WORSHIP COMMITTEE OPENINGS
The Worship Committee is looking for a few more good volunteers to assist with ensuring that the sanctuary is prepared for services. Our work is done ‘behind the scenes’ as opposed to standing up in front of the congregation. Membership on this committee requires a minimal time commitment—normally just before the service you regularly attend. If this sounds like an interesting opportunity to serve your church, please contact Jim Anderson at (520) 870-6972 or [email protected].
BIBLE STUDIES
The Tuesday Bible study will resume on April 7, at 10:00 a.m. We will be studying the book of Acts. All you need to bring is your Bible.
Wednesday night Bible study will focus on the book of Esther. This study will begin on April 8, at 6:45 p.m. Please bring your Bible.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT ACTIVITIES
Since this is Holy Week, there will be no Wednesday Night Programs this Wednesday, April 1. Heavenly Handbells and Circle 6 will meet at their usual time. Regular programs will resume on April 8.
VIDEO CHURCH!
If you are finding yourself feeling a little squeezed at church today because of the crowds or if you just want to enjoy watching church on a big screen with a cup of coffee, please be aware that all church services are broadcast live in Souers Hall each week. Additionally, if you are traveling or are at your summer home or if you simply want to listen to part of the church service again, an audio and video copy of the weekly church service is available on the church website along with newsletters, bulletins, and other information. Please be aware that because of the need for editing, the audio/video of the church service is posted on the website a few days after church.
